So it finally happened, we’ve revamped the circulation desk area to become more of co-working space for the kiddos! This gives my students another social distancing space in the library. I’m not done yet, though! Learning environments do promote engagement and build community.
Everyone’s purpose is different. I’ve realized mine has been simple, “Leave it better than you found it”. There have been many occasions that I’ve missed the mark but this school year, I really want to focus on making the library a better place for my kiddos.#schoollibrary
I think my signs are really going to help my readers connect with more books. Never underestimate a good sign! One down genre down some many more to go! #schoollibraries #allarewelcome #midddleschool #whatsyoursign
One of my favorite things to do is merchandising…I love to put together books that connect characters, thoughts, or just a mood. #bookcarts #schoollibraries #allarewelcome #readingcommunity

For years, the @UofSC’s Center for Civil Rights History and Research has offered training programs to K-12 educators, exposing them to aspects of civil rights history through primary sources, lectures and historical site visits. @UofSCCRC @AnyaBonnette @mrsohbrienpkms

Our @NEHgov Institute on Reconstruction with @UofSC_CIHE and @UofSCEducation isn't only about history content, but also about the strategies K-12 teachers can use to teach this content. Today @DrTMP talked about using primary sources to teach white supremacy & Black resistance.

The country lost a hero last night. The movement lost an icon. And I lost a personal friend. But I do believe that as the sun set on John Lewis’s life last night, the sun rises on a movement that will never die. Thank you, John, rest in peace my brother.

John Lewis: “Be hopeful, be optimistic. Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble. We will find a way to make a way out of no way.” May he rest in power.
