We are aware that today's comments from the Education Secretary, @bphillipsonMP, regarding a complete prohibition of mobile phones in schools may cause concern for children living with type 1 diabetes and their families. bbc.in/4jWxBIC We want to reassure everyone affected by T1D that official Government guidance is clear. Schools have a duty to make reasonable adjustments where necessary, including for pupils with medical conditions. The guidance explicitly states that 'pupils with diabetes may use continuous glucose monitoring with a sensor linked to their mobile phone to monitor blood sugar levels' and concludes that it would not be reasonable for a school to prevent a pupil from using their phone for this purpose. Here at Breakthrough T1D, we'll continue to engage with policymakers to ensure children with type 1 diabetes are safe, supported and able to manage their condition effectively. Today, DHS law enforcement was conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault. During the operation, an individual approached U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted. Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. This violence is directly fueled by hateful rhetoric from Minnesota's sanctuary politicians. It must end now.
