I prefer emails - not because I’m a gen z - but because I prefer having written evidence of what we’ve spoken about

I always look for unusual words in a job description. Take heed if a skill or knowledge is a bit outside of the norm for the role. That means that for this organization, it is important.

Always start your job search with this: what you want to do how you want to do it why do you want to do it and whom you want to be doing it with

Despite recent rate increases, real estate jobs are in demand.   Housing prices are high and inventory is low, but applications for real estate roles continue to surge (^ ~70% since Jan. 2022). What else is going on in the labor market? Find out: okt.to/X4DtFr

Talking to job seekers, I see they don't know their red lines before starting their job search. I encourage everyone to write down what they must have in a new job to thrive. Compare every job description to that list. That will keep you from pursuing roles that will not fit.

When I hear people hesitating to self-promote in their job search, I ask if they took that action and if that was the true result. They will say yes. So I ask, is it bragging to tell the truth?

Ask people you know how they found their last job. Many will tell you that it was through networking, I am sure. If that is the result, why do you think only applying online is the right strategy?

Want to form stronger connections with people? Use Names. We all love it when someone calls us by our name. It makes us feel significant. Better use it in every comment you do. It's a great way to remember names here on X.

I'm still trying to figure out what companies learn after 3 rounds of interviews. Maybe they have a trick question that unlocks everything in round 6?

You wanna manually re-enter all the information on your resume into the application fields? Cuz this is how you get to re-enter all the information on your resume into the application fields. Our systems are typically held together with duct tape and prayers. Simple. PLEASE.
Looking at resume templates on Canva right now. Please don't do this. These are nice looking, but this is like a Graphic designer's idea of what they think recruiters are looking for. It's not. The ATS systems we work with will have no idea how to read this 9/10 times.

I like verbal offers before getting formal offer via email. But the written offer needs to be ready to go shortly after. Next day at the latest.

My Forbes editor is asking for an article about how AI can (negatively or positively) impact DEI in the workplace. Anyone with expertise and lived experience have something to share about that?
