The theme of International #OpenAccessWeek2026, The Cost of Knowledge, asks us to consider the true costs of creating and sharing knowledge, and invites us to rethink – collectively – who pays for and supports open access.

This reminds me of when I was a kid, watching others play and wanting to join in but not knowing how to ask😅

5 yrs ago I fixed an old hat under the eaves in hope of birds.
Problem was pest mice & rats climbing up the brick to it.
Live trapping them as they come to lures has worked.
Today I noticed the White Browed Scrub Wrens are raising a family in it.
☺️☺️
IT IS GOING..CHEEP
Remember last weekend when I put up this cheap hat as a nesting site and said it would attract birds?
One photo like this (Thornbill) & next it was looking in the hat.
I will keep filming to see if the Pardalotes show up.

Epilogue

Spotted a tiny clump of orange dots beside a mossy tree stump. Hemitrichia decipiens, aka Salmon egg slime mold. Up close it looked to me like a tiny hot air balloons about to take off into the woodland canopy. #fungi #Autumn

I noticed a small group of people pointing their phones at a tree (a sight I don't normally see at my local parks), and I wondered what they were all photographing.
It all made sense when I spotted this gorgeous male king parrot!
I don't see king parrots as often as other parrots, so it was nice to get a good look at one myself.
