I'm so often told how much people love Manchester, a place where everyone is welcome to live, to be whoever they are, & enjoy life. Cities don't make themselves. People make them. Pat was a key to the direction of our societal culture, & his input was consistent & enduring.
Our Council Leader Garry Bridges leads the city's tributes to Cllr Pat Karney who died last night after 50 years of public service. A book of condolence will be open in Central Library this morning from 11.30am and on the Council's website. orlo.uk/Tributes_to_councill…

And just like that, our first resident has moved on from the village! This week our team assisted R to move into his own place and we are so excited for his next steps and this new chapter in his story. The village is growing & changing rapidly. We can't wait to share more

Workers are standing up to union busting – and they're not standing alone. ✊ Manchester City Council has warned it could withdraw its provisional booking for the Best of Manchester Awards at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel unless this dispute is resolved. In a letter to management, the council expressed support for Unite members and urged InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to stop refusing workers their right to union recognition. It also warned that future and existing bookings could be reviewed if the company continues down this path. Our members have been clear from day one: they want the right to be represented by their union at work.

For too long, people have said that cheaper transport isn't an option. I don't accept that. l've done it before and now I'm doing it again: a £2 cap on bus fares for millions across the country.
