Hundreds of companies including big household names, including B&Q, Five Guys, Pizza Hut, Forest Holidays and the Whitbread Group have been named and shamed after failing to pay workers the National Minimum Wage. £4 million in lost wages has been repaid to more than 27,000 workers across 658 companies. B&Q alone was reported to have failed to pay £456,934 to 4,530 workers. Workers shouldn't have to fight to get the wages they're legally entitled to. Underpaying workers isn't a harmless mistake it's money taken out of workers' pockets. The Government says it will publish these lists more regularly and is stepping up enforcement against employers who break the law. When major companies can shortchange staff, it’s key every worker know their rights to challenge unfair treatment, defend their rights and fight for better pay and conditions.
