In this literature that ice-free past is linked to advanced societies later flash-frozen under the ice. Ancient maps such as the Piri Reis are read as showing an ice-free coastline. Claims of buried ruins, Lake Vostok magnetic anomalies, metallic structures, and hieroglyphs appear in Michael Salla’s work and related accounts. Salla argues Piri Reis and other ancient sea-king charts trace back to Atlantis. He ties Plato’s Critias to roughly 11600 years ago, and floated the idea that a Martian spacecraft crash-landed there and became the seed of the civilization later remembered as Atlantis. Some believe the Book of Enoch places the prison of the Watchers under the polar regions or Antarctica. In Enoch the fallen angels are bound in the earth - in valleys, a desert opening at Dudael, or a prison of fire and abyss - until the day of judgment. That place is identified with Antarctica: The Watchers held beneath the ice, their technology and hybrid offspring (the Nephilim) tied to the older layer that later groups encountered. Documents show personnel traveling to Base 211 in New Schwabenland and a New Berlin base near the South Pole. German U-boats navigating under the ice using maps of underground lakes and rivers, ferrying supplies and about 250,000 people. Operation Highjump - a U.S. Navy task force under Admiral Byrd in 1946–47, was the largest Antarctic expedition up to that point. Officially it was a training and mapping operation. Byrd’s fleet met resistance from antigravity craft built by the Germans together with an older underground civilization and extraterrestrials. A military confrontation that the Navy lost badly enough to make a secret deal. Later agreements with the Eisenhower administration folded the Antarctic Germans into the U.S. military-industrial complex - which is how the breakaway program began.
