My article for the current issue of @CriticalMuslim is now online.
‘The Censorship of Memory.’
It looks at experiences of growing up in a society where memories of the past are tightly controlled by the state.

A devastating thread on the conditions in Gaza and the genocidal glee in Israel.

Find time to read this quite astonishingly good piece by
@ArwaM Mahdawi. Brilliant on our government's appalling moral confusion over Gaza
"Why is Hasan Piker ‘not conducive to the public good’? Because on Gaza, we punish the witness, not the crime"

‘Ethnic cleansing’ is in fact a euphemism in itself.
Words matter: "Ethnic cleansing" is a term first used by perpetrators to downplay genocidal acts, and it’s not recognized as a crime in international law. Using this language can obscure atrocities that often meet the threshold for genocide or crimes against humanity. Instead, let’s call these acts by their rightful names—forced displacement, murder, rape—and confront the gravity of these crimes. Take a step toward genocide prevention: Refrain from using the term "ethnic cleansing." 🧵
Cenk Uygur is someone I happen to disapprove of and disagree with strongly on many issues, but he’s not a danger to the public in any way or form.
Make no mistake. This is Kremlin-style political repression.

This is huge. Historic. Extremely important juncture for the BDS and boycott movement, and for the movement against apartheid generally. Congrats to all involved.

2 days ago a Muslim prayer room in cafe in Blackburn was firebombed.
@MetroUK and 2 local news stations are the only ones to cover it.
Where are the press briefings, the calls to stamp out Islamophobia, the wall to wall media coverage?
Attacks against Jews and Jewish prayer spaces are a real and dangerous problem. But so are attacks against Muslims and Muslim prayer spaces.🤷🏼♀️
Why are they not afforded the same coverage?
Muslim prayer room at Blackburn café targeted in arson attack
Police are investigating after the Muslim prayer room of Café Raha at Roe Lee Park off Whalley New Road in Blackburn was torched on Monday 11th May at 2.30am.
CCTV footage shows two masked men at the building in the early hours of the morning as the fire takes hold. They are then seen running away from the scene.
