I looked through my whole phone album to find a picture of my passport, and ended up finding these. 😎
How it went vs how it is going!

Ever since I noticed FIDE erases deceased chess players' profiles, I've thought about it a lot.
Every chess player spends countless hours on our beloved game. Their ratings and games tell a story worth keeping.
So I stopped waiting for someone else to build a memorial, a place where we can play through and replay these moments ourselves.
Today we're launching the first edition of the ChessEver Memorial: 682 source-backed profiles of deceased titled players. The list could have been closer to 1,000, but we couldn't verify many of them with enough certainty.
Please explore it and help us extend and improve it. If someone is missing, we'd be grateful for your contribution.

FIDE should stop deleting the profiles of players who have passed away.
I noticed a player had disappeared from the ChessEver database and went looking to find out why. It turns out FIDE removes deceased players' profiles. I checked several others, and their FIDE pages are gone too.
That creates real problems, because the whole ecosystem relies on FIDE IDs to identify players. Also, a FIDE ID is a permanent part of chess history, used in tournament records, databases, articles, and research. Deleting the profile breaks those references.
Keep them in a separate Historical Players section instead. Preserve the profiles
I emailed @FIDE_chess about this too.

Tier 4 "pro" who won over 90% of his prize money in region locked (Danish/Nordic) tournaments fails to see irony in saying women don't deserve spaces to play
Room temp IQ misogyny is really the easiest to laugh at
Replying to @Mauisnake
Stop being such a white knight lmao. "women spaces" what is this snowflake bullshit. either you have it or your dont. nobody needs, require or demand a "space" with special rules, thats something you do for kids in kindergarten. especially when the my can't even define woman lol

Findes der 5 spillere – eller et helt lineup – der kan bære E-Stars' værdier videre?
Comebacket er en mulighed,
men vi trykker kun “start”, hvis vi finder et projekt, vi tror på.

It’s unbelievable how much work goes into having a mid physique and relatively clean house

Better Alignment Beats Forced Agreement
One of the most common mistakes in high-pressure, competitive team environments is trying to get others to arrive at the same conclusions you have.
On the surface, that might look like alignment, but more often, it creates confusion. People may nod at your conclusion without actually understanding how or why you got there. Worse, they might feel like you’re dismissing the validity of their own ideas and perspectives.
There’s a better way. Instead of trying to win people over to your conclusion, bring them into your decision-making process. If teammates understand and trust how you evaluate situations, you’re far more likely to:
- Understand how they reached their own conclusions (even when they differ but uses a similar process to get there)
- Earn their respect for how you reached yours
This is especially crucial for leaders. Telling your team what to do might get short-term compliance, but over time, it makes your system rigid, predictable, and eventually... forgettable. The sharper minds on your team will catch on quickly and start associating your team’s inconsistent playstyle with a bandaid approach, not a real system.
Sure, there are moments when you need everyone on the same page and there’s little time for deep discussion (like a qualifier with a newly formed roster). Just be honest about what that is: a temporary patch, not a long-term blueprint. In these cases, your approach should lean into the natural tendencies of your less versatile players. The more adaptable ones will adjust, but don’t mistake their flexibility for infinite bandwidth. Turn that goodwill into expectation, and you risk breeding quiet resentment over time.
The real game isn’t about getting everyone to land on the same conclusion as you. It’s about building a team that shares a common process for thinking so even when the answers differ, the respect and understanding stay intact. That shared framework lets your team challenge, refine, and elevate ideas together. Set that standard early and win minds early, not arguments late. That’s how predictable teams become dangerous and how good leaders become great!
Guess I was wrong🤷♀️It is beyond words how touching it is to see that @imperial fe did as well as they did against @natusvincere 🙏Thanks a lot for proving me and a lot of other people wrong! 🫶
