"Yorkshire Water CEO Nicola Shaw to step down after four and a half years in charge." In those 4 and a half years Nicola Shaw was paid over £3 million including £1.3 million which was paid via an offshore company. Everybody say aww! yorkshirepost.co.uk/business…

Go for a walk on almost any farm in Britain and ask yourself where a hedgehog might find food, water or shelter there. The rough edges, pockets of scrub, areas of unkempt long grass, piles of dead wood, marshy wet areas and ponds, all tidied away. There’s nowhere left for them.
Britain had about 30 million hedgehogs in the 1950s; we've got under 875,000 today. The population has dropped by about 97%. Shocking.

Dear @nationaltrust, creating “orchard character” cannot undo the fragmentation of Coton Orchard. Please make clear to councillors that withdrawing your objection doesn’t mean the loss of irreplaceable habitat can now be mitigated, especially given the limited transport benefits.

Towns in England at risk of running out of water until 2027. Over one trillion litres of water a year lost to leaks. No new reservoirs since privatisation. Record customer bills. Polluted rivers. No national planning. Crisis deepened by privatisation. archive.ph/0XI5H

🚨 Water companies have made at least £1.4 BILLION from industrial wastewater in six years. Our investigation with @Watershed_i reveals: 💰 Water companies reported £336 million in trade-effluent revenue in 2025/26 alone, with reported revenues almost doubling since 2020/21. 🏭 607.6 billion litres of industrial wastewater was consented to enter sewage treatment works last year. That’s enough to fill around 242,000 Olympic swimming pools! This wastewater can contain substances including PFAS, cyanide, mercury and pharmaceuticals. These chemicals enter our waterways and contaminate sewage sludge, which is spread on our land and used to grow our food. Yet there is no independent regulator overseeing individual trade-effluent consents and no central national register. 🔎 Read our full investigation and uncover the hidden industrial wastewater trade: 👇 riveractionuk.com/news/water…

It's not just the endless bill increases. It's not just that 1/3 of your bill goes to paying shareholder dividends and servicing debt, not improving the water network. It's not just the 1/2 million sewage discharges in one year. It's the corrupt system which rewards water bosses for failure that people can't stand.

Aren't people who spew racism and threats to ethnic groups arrested in the UK. They are arrested if they do this on social media, but not in the real world? @andyburnham? Any thoughts?

Picking fruit all week; village produce stall this morning. With CSF this afternoon and another food bank tomorrow. The last harvest from these trees that have fed our County for a century. All to be felled for a busway to Grange Rd. Criminal.

Please, please 🙏 sign this petition..what’s happening here is indefensible..to destroy a 100 year old orchard 🌳 🌳 🌳 brimming with #biodiversity for a “green” busway! This country is already one of most nature depleted in the world and yet this environmental vandalism continues. c.org/n5fKzPn9Jq
Melancholy this evening. Trying to find the closing words to speak for a place that should not have needed defending. What will the turtle doves, house martins, fieldfares… and cuckoos return to next season, if they return❓ #SaveCotonOrchard ✏️ change.org/p/save-the-green-…

Unless we get Biblical rainfall during this Winter our rare #ChalkStreams will still suffer from severe drought🧐Dry springs & devastation to the rare riparian habitat☹️Chalk springs are known for their resilience to drought due to water taking years to percolate through Chalk 🤷‍♂️

Please sign this petition..the grey belt definition is a deliberate one that allows developers to find loopholes to build over our green belts..Hertfordshire is about to lose vast swathes of green fields and farmland, ancient woodlands and nature reserves aren’t safe. Is this a disused petrol station or car park @mtpennycook @AngelaRayner? petition.parliament.uk/petit…
Absolutely disgraceful..we’re in a #biodiversity and #ClimateCrisis and an SSSI ancient woodland is under threat because the land surrounding it has been classed as grey belt..please sign ✍️ this petition…it should not be coming to this @mhclg c.org/FkzyXR5f2N

This morning, 99% of delegates polled at Labour Conference said that Thames Water should be brought into public ownership. It's SO obvious what the public want. Now it's time for Andy Burnham to do it. #labour26 vist.ly/5k6zu
