🔊To those asking, “How can we help Afghan women?”
First, share their voices. In a time when even speaking puts women at risk, being heard means hope, visibility, and survival.
Second, support our online education program. Despite fear and restrictions, Afghan girls are secretly continuing their studies. You can help by sponsoring internet access so students can attend online classes, or by volunteering as a teacher and sharing your knowledge with girls who have been denied education.
Third, support food aid for widows and women living alone who have no male provider in the household and are often too afraid to go outside.

Quite extraordinary for the minister to say this. Not only does the extremely wide draft bill permit for parents and ordinary free speech to be prosecuted the former minister who introduced this bill said that it would and rejected a parental carve out. Breathtaking dishonesty.
Minister's letter to the pre-legislative scrutiny committee published.
How? 🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️
How do they think it protects parental rights or freedom of religion and belief?
There is nothing on the face of the bill that does any such thing.

An excellent letter from the Gay Men’s Network that highlights the dangers Conversion Practices legislation represents to gay men, to lesbians and to the parents of gay teens.

1/ We’ve written to the Secretary of State for Equalities concerning misinformation that appeared in an article she wrote over the weekend. It’s important that the debate around the draft conversion bill is accurate and the Minister should promote this.

All the Afghan women and girls I teach have male family members who support them. Shadmana's is her father.

This is so dishonest. A society which values freedom must stop demanding that we pretend to believe men are whatever men say they are and women are whatever men say they are.

We have now written an open letter to the Bridget Phillipson regarding the misinformation that appeared in her article on the conversion practices bill this weekend.
This level of nonsense in public debates is getting ridiculous and it is time she and her officials sorted it.

Having watched so many ordinary Parisian shopkeepers weeping as they survey the wreckage of their life’s work, some personally battered & bruised from trying to defend their shops & bars from the thugs, I find the populist idiocy of this hard to credit.

A French woman says that the rioters and looters broke into her building and threatened her with rape while she was holding her child in her arms.
“That’s collateral damage” responds the feminist activist Bettina Zourli who holds a Master’s in gender studies and focuses her work on gender norms, motherhood, reproductive rights, and voluntary childlessness (“childfree”)
She describes herself as “feminist, childfree and Antifa”
Zourli also says that all the stores getting looted also constitute a case of collateral damage and that the revolution, which she supports, must be violent.
She has lectured in gender studies, including at the University of Lille and Université Rennes.

I’ll be moderating a panel with Kara, @bindelj and @KhadijaKhan__ on Thursday evening in central London to look at the long history of excusing violence against Jewish women within feminism. Link to tix in replies.
The feminist view of rape applied to Jewish women in the aftermath of 10/7 comes for the West. It is not a surprise, and it’s not about #MeToo: a strand of feminism has been developing the idea that rape is the collateral damage of racism and imperialism, and that we must accept violent revolution in order to end these oppressions, for years.
Angela Davis, “Violence Against Women and the Ongoing Challenge to Racism,” 1985: “The very same social conditions which spawn racist violence…are the same forces which encourage sexual violence. Thus, sexual violence can never be completely eradicated until we have succeeded in effecting a whole range of radical social transformations in our country.”
Same essay: “If we are militant activists challenging violence against women, we must also see ourselves as fearless fighters against police violence, and in passionate solidarity with the racially and nationally oppressed people who are its main targets.”
Etc.
This vision of feminism always said women’s concerns would be addressed in the aftermath of anti-state revolution, not before. In fact, the liberal version of feminism associated with Jewish feminist Betty Friedan was developed in part to counter this very idea.

The word "parent" does not feature in the draft bill or the explanatory notes.
There is absolutely no reason in law why a parent could not be prosecuted and the former minister explicitly rejected a parental carve out, conceding that some would be.
The Minister's assurances are worthless.
Bridget Phillipson's assurance that 'refusing to accept a child's identity' will not be prosecutable under conversion practices legislation is contradicted by the bill itself, which says that 'psychological or emotional pressure' with the intention of changing 'transgender identity' could qualify as a criminal offence.
How can Phillipson know how a court will interpret 'refusing to accept a child's identity' given the vague and open-ended definitions in the bill?
An op-ed by a politician will be scant consolation when a parent is facing a criminal claim or a protection order that will destroy their relationship with their child.
And the question remains: what 'abuse' is the bill designed to tackle that is not already an offence in law?

This is a really good example of how clear & understandable the EHRC Guidance is. Following it in a respectful, polite kind of way is exactly how it should be done. The only people complaining that the guidance is confusing are the ones outraged they have to follow the rules.

Women make up two-thirds of the Unison membership. That's around a million female members. And their general secretary wants to trash their hard-won sex-based rights to indulge the feelings of a small number of men. Utterly inexcusable.

It is clear Bridget hasn’t read her own bill.
This article is full of warm, soothing words that are a world away from the realities of this bill.
The draft bill is full of significant consequences for lesbian and gay rights, for families, for faith organisations and much more. It needs detailed scrutiny by Parliamentarians to protect rights we have taken for granted for decades and more.
I urge people to read the bill for themselves so you can understand the road it is taking us down.

Alice Edward’s article about the state of the UN is a must read.
Reem has consistently attacked Israel, Israeli hostages, and any group or individual that demands better from her, in her role as rapporteur. As our co-founder @sleeepysandy discovered in a surprising exchange of tweets. See below 👇
I am saddened and shocked by Alice Edward's article published today in the @Telegraph and the extent to which it misrepresents my work and that of the special procedures system she was part of until July 2026.
telegraph.co.uk/gift/be34cb6…
Collectively, we have been unequivocal: Any sexual harassment and violence committed against women and girls on and since 7 October 2023, including hostages in captivity, are grave crimes. Survivors deserve to be heard, and perpetrators must be held accountable. I have said so before, and the full record of my engagement is here:
ohchr.org/en/press-releases/… ; ohchr.org/en/press-releases/… & ohchr.org/sites/default/file…
Ms. Edwards claims that I have never condemned the reports of violence, including sexual violence against women and girls on the 7th of October, and that I have hidden behind Israel’s refusal to grant me entry. Both these claims are incorrect. My statement outlining my engagement on and since the 7th October 2023 makes it clear that I have made several démarches to gain access to primary information, survivors, witnesses, and first responders. As I told the General Assembly on 8 October 2026, the first time a former hostage approached me was in June 2026 at the Human Rights Council. I have since met her and am handling her case under the established procedure open to every victim; where each step is subject to her full and informed consent.
Ms. Edwards also leaves out the fact that when she invited me to join her allegation letter relating to the events of 7th of October 2023, I reviewed it in good faith and made written suggestions on 3rd December 2023. In my feedback, I also asked to see the primary information and testimonies Ms. Edwards had received - a normal request between mandate holders. She declined without explanation, which was the first and only time I have been denied such a request during my mandate. Contrary to me, she did not invite me to any further engagement on Palestine and Israel after that, nor share any information on any related action she may have taken.
Statements such as these only serve the wider efforts to discredit rapporteurs, including rapporteurs that criticize Israel for its serious human rights violations. They serve to dismiss every UN finding of Israeli violations of human rights and international law as being biased against the State of Israel.
Ms. Edwards should understand this better than most. Since 2024, she herself was publicly accused of bias against Palestinian victims, and even endured calls for her dismissal.
Ms. Edwards knows all too well how stressful it is to have your impartiality questioned. Every one of us is doing our best for victims, whoever they are, and wherever they live. The current President of the Human Rights Council was emphatically clear that mandate holders must be able "to carry out their responsibilities free from personal attacks, intimidation or undue pressure." That included Ms. Edwards when she was a rapporteur but is also expected of her today in her current engagement with rapporteurs (since her resignation as a rapporteur).

It is that simple.
Man sashays into women's toilets.
Report him.
Disciplinary.
Warning.
Man does it again.
Report him.
Final warning.
Man does it again.
Dismissed.
