Well, it’s probably been more like 25 years, but it doesn’t hurt to go back to basics - especially as a native English speaker living in France but working mainly with German!

That’s the second time I’ve heard @ChrisDurbanFR speak in as many months and I’ve come away with so much to think about yet again. Make sure you’re speaking your client’s language - in more ways than one! #ITIConf2024 #iticonf24 #xl8

More insights from this year’s #ITIConf2024 courtesy of @ringlada. AI is impressive if you know how to use it, but it’s useless if you don’t have the core skills to know whether a translation is correct or suitable. #xl8 #iticonf24
A quote from Ramon Inglada at ITI Conference 2024 that says “we cannot afford to neglect core skills. Without them, we cannot know whether AI output is correct or for for purpose”

Joanna Drugan shares a fascinating insight into the history of translation and interpreting in Scotland. A timely reminder that these professions have been around for as long as humans have had to communicate across languages and cultures! #xl8 #iticonf2024 #iticonf24

Sticking with the AI theme for the second presentation of the day, and @ringlada hits the nail right on the head with this gem 💎 All these tools and technologies are only as good as the people using them… #iticonf2024

Getting straight down to it in the first presentation at #ITIConf2024. Carlos La Orden Tovar talks us through brainy things a robot cannot do and how to sell human tech skills in an AI world…
An illustrated quote from ITIConf2024 that says “ranting is going to get us nowhere - feedback on AI needs to be properly structured and articulated for it to have a real impact.”

Morning all! Ready to tune in to day 1 of the ITI Conference from sunny Nantes! It’s been two years since my last event in Brighton, which means it’s also been two years since I moved to France - time flies when you’re having fun! 🇫🇷 Allez, c’est parti ! #iticonf2024

One of many insightful gems I picked up at the recent writing masterclass in Nantes. No matter the purpose of the text, you always want your readers to enjoy reading it (or at least sail through it) rather than stumbling over clumsy writing. What do you think? #xl8

Just taken some time out to look at the programme for this year’s #ITIConf24 and get to grips with the online platform. Not long to go now! I can’t make this one in person, but I’m looking forward to being part of the virtual community 🙌🏼 Tweeting thumbs at the ready 👍🏼👍🏼

It’s take over ten years, but I’ve finally been asked to work on a text about field hockey - and for the upcoming Olympic Games, no less! Looking forward to getting stuck in 🙌🏼 #Paris2024
