The US House will have 102+ Democratic women and about 20 Republican women. Women will make up about 30% of seats; still far from 50% parity. 15 women won governor races, including Keisha Bottoms (1st Black woman gov) & Deb Haaland(1st Native Am woman gov).washingtonpost.com/politics/…

When I came to Congress in 1987, there were only twelve Democratic women. We made it our mission to change that. Today, we celebrate the election of more than 100 Democratic women to the House — a tremendous joy and source of pride. When women succeed, America succeeds!

The scale of the G.O.P.’s loss in Tuesday’s midterm elections defied even Donald Trump’s ability to lie, dissemble, and squirm his way out of it. These were the President’s own voters, in states where he won by huge margins just a couple of years ago. “The scale of this is so large because the scale of Trump’s offenses has been so vast,” Susan Glasser writes. Tariffs and trade wars, Canada-bashing, Europe-bashing, the betrayal of Ukraine and embrace of Vladimir Putin, the grotesque self-enrichment of himself and his circle, the unleashing of an armed militia of ICE goons on our streets. “They voted because so much of what is happening in Trump’s America seems so very un-American,” Glasser continues. Perhaps — and hear me out here — if you can afford to lose $474 million while trying to buy the midterm elections, you can afford to pay your fair share in taxes.

In races called, 17 senators are being replaced, already the biggest turnover in the chamber since 1980. The departing senators average age is 70, their replacements 55. The number of senators under 50 nearly doubles, from 8 to 15.

The MAGA authoritarians manufactured an EXTINCTION-level event for themselves. They did it. On purpose. Over and over and over again. With ICE. With the corruption. With their unqualified & cruel appointees. With total arrogance and indecency all around. This is Trump's legacy we need to cement in his final two years in office. It wasn't a single policy; it's a FAILED MOVEMENT. They got all the power. Everything they wanted. And this is what America thought of it all. Midterms 2026.

Elite institutions bent the knee. They capitulated. They rationalized doing nothing. But ordinary Americans led our nation out of the abyss, summoning the courage to stand up for what’s right, to fight for their neighbors, and to protect cherished American ideals. God bless America.

In all of this, let’s not forget the Democrats who ran before. Especially Stacey Abrams in Georgia and Beto O’Rourke in Texas. They laid the groundwork, and when they lost, they stayed and helped build the infrastructure for the next person. You have to invest in these states, even when you lose. And thank God for that investment.
Stacey Abrams ran so Keisha Lance Bottoms could soar.
