Marine Le Pen is now the clear favourite to become the next President of France, with polls putting her first round support at around double that of any rival.
She sits on 35 to 36%, ahead of Jean Luc Mélenchon on 17 to 18% and Édouard Philippe on 13 to 16%. Polls show her winning a runoff against either man comfortably.
In July, a Paris appeals court upheld her embezzlement conviction but cut her ban from office, leaving her free to stand next April.
Her opponents hoped the courts would end her campaign. Instead she is now the frontrunner to become president.

The improvement is not workers getting a break, it’s Albanese skimming more off your retirement nest egg and investment income.

The highest outside the mining boom and the pandemic.
Spending is still at 26.9% of GDP.
Smaller deficit than forecast, still a $22.3 billion hole, and households cop another rate hike the next day.
This is the Albanese model, keep the 125 different taxes the Henry Review counted across every level of government, add bracket creep, raid super when markets run hot, then declare victory when the ATO’s take comes in fat.
Three big taxes do most of the heavy lifting. The other hundred plus are the compliance jungle nobody has simplified.
They’ll tell you tax cuts are coming.
They’ll tell you wage earners weren’t the ones who over delivered.
Meanwhile the cash rate is 4.60%, inflation is still above band, and your super is helping paper over a government that spends like there’s no tomorrow and taxes like it owns the lot.
That’s not a better budget.

This is what happens when terminology is adulterated-
When gene therapies are renamed vaccines, or when the neurologically recovering are deemed “brain dead”.
In a recent podcast, bioethicist Arthur Caplan proudly proclaimed that he has pioneered using critically disabled people for research at NYU Langone Health.
Caplan says that not only is this going on now at NYU, but there are dozens of such research centers starting up all over the country, using “brain dead” people for drug testing and other research purposes.
Caplan admits in the podcast that people with a brain death diagnosis are not biologically dead, but that their “deaths” are a social construct -- which is why they can be successfully kept on life support for these experiments.
When people who are registered organ donors have infections or other conditions that make them unable to donate, the family is approached and asked if doctors might keep their loved one on life support to do some tests.
According to Caplan:
“We started by saying that it might advance transplant. We're going to study something, maybe an artificial organ or some immune suppressing drug. And if you give us permission -- they wanted to be organ donors, but they can't, they clearly wanted to help -- let's do it that way. And if the family concurred (which reminding listeners, they don't have to legally in an organ donation situation, but we were trying to be safe here in this idea of studying the body) if we take them for 72 hours, would you give us permission? And a lot of people did.”
Dr. Caplan’s eagerness to keep critically ill people on life support for experimentation contrasts sharply with his opinion when the parents of Jahi McMath (a young girl declared brain dead) wanted to keep her on life support to preserve her life. At that time, Caplan wrote, “Keeping her on a ventilator amounts to the desecration of a body.”
Last year, scientists were widely criticized for proposing the idea of creating “bodyoids,” non-sentient human clones grown in artificial wombs, for research purposes.
Move over, bodyoids: such experimentation is already being performed today, on actual humans, with no waiting.
It is highly unlikely that the families of these unfortunate people are being informed that their loved ones are only “socially dead” when doctors obtain “consent” for these experiments.
