I made a big expensive hire, a President for Contrarian Thinking.
He was the President of Mr Beast and I was worried we weren’t big enough.
So I had to sell a dream so big, he could see into the future. Then I hired a former Hubspot exec. These hires will cost me millions... BUT the truth of running a company is that your team doesn’t fall to it’s level of practice it falls to the level of your lowest leaders.
And the opposite is also true, it lifts to the level of it’s best leaders. Bringing them in our business has already 3x’d.
It’s expensive, it’s hard, you lose some control, you have to compromise but hiring incredible leaders is also the key to winning.
The catch? A++ players only want to work for A+++ players.
So if you can’t hire the level of people you want, the mirror is the first place to start. I am working harder than ever. Why? To make sure I am worthy of the talent we need to attract.
