Best part of my day— seeing the kids read this simple message and smiling as they walked to and from class. #Sgisd #buildingrelationships #positiveschoolculture #CKH – at Kingsville, TX

I read (and acted out) this for #WorldReadAloudDay in my high school classes today. The kids were so excited to have story time again!

Taming the 🧌 beast of Reading Language Arts is not easy. Thank you @lead4ward for helping us find focus with your suggested TEKS cluster for STAAR review. We now have TWO reporting categories: 📚Reading & ✍🏼 Writing. Those are big buckets! 🪣

My classroom management improved when I focused more on creativity and collaboration and less on compliance. Instead of trying to catch kids doing things wrong, we celebrated the amazing things they did well, and those “things” got exponentially better because the fear was gone.

Wowza… hard to wrap my brain around all the declining skills— I think things like reading and active listening are foundational to being critical thinkers… Think this might make a really good PD for my teachers #TCEA2023 @R_FISD @DrJosh_Garcia @cllowery @j11robbins

The reason it is so important to focus on teachers' strengths is because most teachers are highly agreeable and highly conscientious. They already know their weaknesses because that has always been the focus in education, and because teachers are their own worst critics.
