The LA City Council, in an amazing hat trick, just unanimously approved yet another historic ordinance, this time requiring #decarbonization of all new buildings. Thank you Leap LA Coalition, @PaulKoretzCD5, @nithyavraman, @PaulKrekorian, @MayorOfLA & @meganonearth. Tremendous!

Went to #UNCCDCOP17 for People, Food and Land Foundation, bringing what CA has learned about returning organic material to degraded land: the science, measurement tools, materials that work, and policy (SB 1383 / SB 279).
This is our story. 1/5

Great news! Gov. @GavinNewsom today signed my SB 279, which will help farmers and winegrape growers by allowing them to compost large amounts of agricultural waste onsite rather than shipping it hundreds of miles away to a composting facility.

To all the right wing billionaires who think an unimaginably devastating wildfire is the appropriate time to score political points on our City…
Please shut all the way up and go help somebody.

🚨Fire update:
The State is moving hundreds of fire engines, firefighters, hand crews, and bulldozers from every corner of California into the greater Los Angeles region. These engines and crews started to arrive yesterday evening and will continue to surge today. CA had also requested assistance (additional engines, fire fighters and hand crews) from other Western states and those requests are being filled.

Dear @PHXSkyHarbor, while we appreciate how thoroughly you have always owned @flyLAXairport with your #sustainability messaging, we do wonder where your food waste composting program is? @District7PHX

“For those of you who are interested in statistics, this is a five-sigma event. So it's five standard deviations beyond the mean. Which means that if nothing had changed, we'd expect to see a winter like this about once every 7.5 million years.” abc.net.au/news/2023-07-24/a…

“This is the last slap upside the head we’re going to get when it might still matter,” said @billmckibben, a longtime climate activist. “It’s obviously a pivotal moment in the Earth’s climatic history.”

Climate change isn't a future problem. It's a this week, today, right now problem.
Thank you @CD5LosAngeles & @cd4losangeles for moving forward the vitally important #wildlifeordinance to protect habitat connectivity in our LA hillsides.
Happy Earth Day!
Here's an interview I did with Christy Ross of Planted Places, talking mainly about one of the most important solutions to the breakdown of our #climate: #regeneratesoil to sequester carbon dioxide.
