Here’s some more research for Bet 1 of my £10 to £500 challenge today. Load her below. This is Matchday 7 for both teams. So far, York’s matches have the fourth-highest average goals per game at 3.5. Chesterfield are 11th highest at 2.7 goals per game. Chesterfield are averaging 13.67 shots per game, with 34.2% hitting the target. They are conceding an average of 12 shots per game, with 40.3% of those on target. Their average xGF is 2.18 and xGA is 1.70. That gives a combined xG of 3.88 per game. So while their matches have averaged just 2.7 actual goals, the chances created and conceded suggest that figure could have been higher. As for York, they are averaging 18 shots per game, with 34.3% hitting the target. They are allowing 10.67 shots per game, with 32.8% of those on target. Their average xGF is 2.37 and xGA is 1.46, giving us a combined xG of 3.83. Again, that’s higher than their actual average of 3.5 goals per game. The home and away split isn’t as useful this early in the season because Chesterfield have only played three games at home and York have only played three away. However, there are still some interesting numbers. At home, Chesterfield’s average shots increase to 16 for and 13.33 against. Their xG also rises to 2.27 xGF and 1.96 xGA. That means a lot of their chance creation and concession has come at home, despite only one of their three home games going over 2.5 goals. It’s a similar story with York away from home. Across their three away games, they are averaging 20.67 shots for and 12 against. Their combined xG also increases significantly to 4.38 per game, despite only one of those three matches going over 2.5 goals. Hopefully that all makes sense. Let me know if you have any questions.
