ALT On this day in 2013, President Barack Obama awarded Bayard Rustin the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This was done posthumously & given to his partner & our Beloved Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice Board Member Emeritus Walter Naegle 26 years after his passing. Whereas we appreciate fully President Obama's acknowledgement & the honor indeed wonderful, it was far too long in coming. On this day all of us at BRCSJ HQ pledge to fight that much harder to make sure no one is left behind ever again! Join us as Angelic Troublemakers~ RUSTINCENTER.ORG

ALT Robt Martin Seda-Schreiber (he/him) As the founder & Chief Activist of the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice, Robt Martin has built a nationally recognized hub for LGBTQIA+ youth, families, & marginalized communities. The Center honors Bayard Rustin's legacy by blending intersectional activism, education, & care: from hosting Pride parades & Drag Story Hours to launching initiatives like the Trans Enby Justice Collective, Queer Youth Brigade, Defenders of the Right to Read, & community breakfast programs rooted in mutual aid. Open seven days a week with trained volunteers, the BRCSJ has become a quintessential model for what a queer safe-space can be: inclusive, radical, & sustaining. Robt describes himself as "proudly bisexual" & lives it loudly. For his decades of angelic troublemaking, his refusal to let anyone be left behind, and his extraordinary ability to transform spaces into communities, Robt Martin Seda-Schreiber is celebrated as a 2025 Bee Hero Honorable Mention!
