This project reminds me of the early days of the internet - clever, fun, random, and a little weird. There's going to be an explosion of creative projects like this one now that everyone has the ability to bring their ideas to life. I, for one, can't wait.

I think making an animated launch/explainer video to grab attention is essentially dead. The explainer video on @tettra cost ~$3,500 and a good amount of my time on the script, storyboard, and general feedback. Came out well and I’m proud of it. But this week, I’ve seen dozens of animated videos using Opus 5.5 that are basically the same outcome, which each took maybe 30 seconds and less than a dollar of credits… When the output is commoditized and everywhere, viewers get desensitized quickly and stop paying attention because the actual evidence of effort (which used to be a proxy for product quality) is gone. The solution is probably for all founders to become either exceptional storytellers or entertainers, then star in their own videos. That is much harder to replicate.

Just downloaded and tested the new IRS app. Feels good as a US citizen to finally have a well designed, modern app for a foundational service. Bravo and thank you, @shl & team!

This seems correct to me... The days of putting your head down to make steady progress on an interesting and mildly difficult software business are coming to an end. Either need to be on the cutting edge or hyper niche with domain expertise.
I think the future of indiehacking is barbell shaped. On the right, build AI things for AI people. It will get cloned to shit. Some will work, many will not. Fastest execution plus distribution wins. Be prepared to make tons of money one month and nothing the next. On the left, build boring things that nobody wants to clone, that will take years to gain enough market share. Slow burn. CRM for Chihuahua owners. Newsletter tool for bakeries. Hyper niche. Everything in the middle is a dead zone now.
