Carson Benge on his Rookie of the Year chances: “I think I would be deserving of the award in the most humble way possible. I don’t mean to come off cocky.” “I think I deserve it. I think I showed in the whole season, in all facets of the game, that I did a pretty good job showcasing my talent, but there’s definitely other good rookies out there.” Benge finished with a .776 OPS, 20 HR, 22 SB and 4.3 bWAR, while becoming the first 20/20 rookie in Mets history. His defense also put him in the Gold Glove conversation. “I definitely knew I had it in me, but seeing that number up on the scoreboard is cool. Twenty homers in my first year is more than I could have asked for.” A.J. Ewing had plenty of praise for his teammate: “His year is amazing, and I think it’s just a small glimpse of what he’s capable of in this game. He’s a freak athlete and he’s got a great head on his shoulders, and I know that he’s never satisfied. He’s always looking for more.” Via @NYPost_Mets #LGM
