Iβve been saying this for years

British public opinion moves relentlessly in favour of rejoining the EU. Brexit has failed Britain.

Tonight I took the car and drove across all of Kyiv, just to see how my beloved city feels at this time.
Itβs a strange feeling.
On the surface, you see the same utterly ordinary life thatβs been here for almost all the ten years Iβve been wandering these streets. Streams of cars stuck in traffic on the immense Beresteiskyi Avenue, streetlights, neon signs, shops, advertisements, traffic lights flashing, pedestrians. Somewhere behind the lit-up windows, three or four million lives rush past you.
Supermarkets are full of people picking up groceries on their way home from work. As usual, people sit outside the cafes, wrapped in blankets. The McDonaldβs restaurants, glowing yellow, are full of people eating burgers -- as always, until the sirens start wailing again.
Nearby, hipsters sip βDrunken Cherryβ at tables and on the marble parapet over the underpass. The favorite little "Pita" with its awesome Middle Eastern food is open as usual.
In short, itβs an utterly ordinary, chilly September weeknight in a big, vibrant metropolis. I swear, if you got in a car too and drove around this city without knowing you were in Kyiv, youβd never guess that a brutal, catastrophic war was being fought over it, right here and now.
And amid all this, every couple of hours, somewhere in this vast city, death comes crashing down. Here, then there. An impact, columns of smoke, fires, videos on social media. A supermarket, a warehouse, a shop, a parking lot, a shopping mall, ambulances and fire trucks. Then somewhere else. And again.
And tonight, sometime in the night, another apartment block will be brought crashing down to a terrible roar, and several more families will die beneath the rubble of their homes -- because one power-drunk, aging dictator has gone mad with impunity and the intoxicating taste of blood.
Thatβs how this city lives, waiting for the heroically fighting army to hold out and save the world.

If we lose the RNLI then we lose this. Is that what you want?
Andy Bell πΈπ¬π§πͺπΊ retweeted
Two RNLI volunteers were pictured in Portsmouth this weekend while responding during the Patriot Platform protest. The far right responded by identifying them and branding them βtraitorsβ.
One of those spreading their names is Ryan Ferguson, a neo-Nazi who was jailed for racially abusing a Black footballer and later arrested under the Terrorism Act for promoting the banned neo-Nazi group National Action.
This is what the far rightβs βpeacefulβ activism looks like.

PERSONAL OPINION: Populism is easy. Promise the moon, treat the law as optional, and sell the crowd a story they already want to believe.
Yesterday at the ReformUK conference we watched the Trump MAGA playbook arrive in Birmingham.
Supporters interviewed on camera saying they would not care if Nigel Farage broke the law.
Women protesters dragged out of the hall, one describing her hair being pulled and a boot on her head.
A memorandum of understanding with a French opposition party dressed up as if France had already signed a returns treaty.
And a leader threatening to pack the House of Lords with hundreds of loyalists if the constitution got in his way.
The real threat is not that Britain is being replaced by immigrants. It is that we are being sold a politics that treats institutions as obstacles, facts as optional, and the country as a prize for the highest bidder.
That is not taking our country back. That is importing someone elseβs circus.

Replying to @PhilippaThomson
Weβre aware of a video circulating from the Reform UK Conference showing an incident with a protester. We havenβt received a complaint but would ask the woman to come forward. Anyone with any information should contact us on 101 quoting log number 924-050926
Agree. UK businesses that work internationally all need to comply with data protection regulations that apply in the jurisdiction of the person the data pertains to. A long established principle. Reform announcement meaningless at best harmful at worst.

Disabilities don't start at 9:30 AM, and now disabled bus passes won't either.
Huge credit to Lib Dem MP Tom Gordon and campaign groups like Transport for All. Their fight against unfair restrictions has led to nationwide change for fairer, accessible transport!
