This Cabinet is a Cabinet of people who have never had jobs.
They do not understand the impact of their actions on small businesses and entrepreneurs.
We need a leader who has lived it, felt the pain of every energy price hike and has a plan to improve.
Not a sticker on Google Maps.
We need to do better, this is not acceptable leadership.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

A few observations from a week in London:
1/ The startup energy here is completely different than 10y ago. The level of risk taking, ambition, and talent has changed dramatically
2/ There remains a huge fintech opportunity here. Revolut, GoCardless, and many others were built on the incredible finance talent in London
3/ Their vision in building public transit infrastructure is peerless in the west
4/ London in good weather is probably the best city in the world

Best game at the World Cup so far. No referees controversies, no robberies. Just pure football and goals galore

every data center story says it uses "as much power as 100,000 homes" like that's a scandal. an aluminum smelter pulls five times that and it's why airplanes are cheap. measuring industry in homes is how you train a country to believe building things is a crime

Adding Starlink to every UK train would be an incredible productivity boost 🛰️

England fans unfairly get a bad reputation, but actually looking at the scenes from Mexico and elsewhere?
Our fans are clearly the best in the world.
Happy birthday, America! I love this remarkable country, which was built on the idea that anyone can change the world. For 250 years, our country has been a testament to the power of possibility. Let’s keep building extraordinary things together.

Great to see three Brits on the podium in Barcelona. Just a shame the winner was sponsored by an Italian beer.

This week the most advanced AI model on the planet got switched off by a foreign government. British researchers were studying it. British companies were testing it. British hospitals were piloting it. Not any more.
This isn't an AI story. It's the story of every industry we used to lead.
Britain has some of the best AI talent in the world. DeepMind was built here. Our AI Safety Institute writes the rules other countries follow. We have the researchers, the universities, the standards.
What we don't have is the power stations to run the data centres, the planning system to build them, or the industrial base to make the chips. So the work happens here and the value lands somewhere else. We invent. Others build. Others decide. Then we read about it on Saturday morning.
Same story as the kit our soldiers don't have. Same story as the factories we used to.
I spent nine months in government making this argument inside the room. I'll make it louder from outside.
The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees.
The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance.
Access to all other Claude models is not affected.
We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible.

Bernie Sanders and AOC haven't created a single millionaire.
Elon just created 4,400 millionaires.

The next war won't be won by armies, navies or air forces alone.
It'll be won by the country whose 19 year olds can code, whose factories can build drones in weeks not years, and whose grid stays on when someone tries to switch it off.
Industry. Society. Economy. That's the fight now.
We're not ready. And we're not being honest about what getting ready will cost.
