Congratulations to Prem Goyal and Tim Levene, who have today taken office as the Sheriffs of the City of London for 2026–27, following a ceremony at Guildhall. The Sheriffs support the Lord Mayor, work with His Majesty’s Judges at the Old Bailey, and champion the rule of law and the UK’s financial and professional services sector.

Let’s hope Greenwich Council didn’t pay the contractor who did a bodged job on fixing the Fairthorn Road sink hole - today it’s all being dug up again. @dscottmcdonald are you concerned by this too?
Hey @dscottmcdonald @Royal_Greenwich the sink hole repair on Fairthorn Road is already leaking. Have the contractors finished?

So @Royal_Greenwich has consistently told me that there is nothing wrong with the road surface at Fairthorn Road - but today the road is closed due to a sink hole. How can this be when it’s regularly checked. @TheMurkyDepths @dscottmcdonald @MrOkereke

Following earlier road flooding impacting access to Terminals 2 and 3, all roads have now reopened and the airport continues to operate as normal. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we thank passengers for following the advisories we had put in place while our teams worked to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

6pm and an estimated 2 1/2 hours to go until the next batch of eclipse solar glasses arrive at AM2PM shop in Whitechapel. @myldn
Line up - line up! Chaos in London with this one store trying to facilitate people needing Eclipse Glasses.
Fire at Fairthorn Road earlier this evening. We’ve repeatedly warned @Urang about the fire risks of combustible items on balconies, yet little action has followed. When will property management companies be properly regulated? @mtpennycook, residents need action.
Saw Aleggra tonight on its final night after 110 performances. Maureen Lipman was brilliant, I grew up watching her on the BT adverts, so it was lovely to see her on stage. Such a great actress! @maureenlipman

Very saddened to hear the news about Ann Widdecombe. During my time as a councillor, I met her on several visits and drove her around the constituency. I remember those occasions and our conversations fondly. My thoughts are with all those who knew her at this tragic time.
BREAKING: A murder inquiry has been launched after the death of Ann Widdecombe.
