If Miami truly lacks smart people and is not starting from a good baseline, why are many of the world's smartest people selecting it over smart people built cities like SF and NYC? Miami is one of the world's wealthiest and healthiest cities, with incredible quality of life, elite secondary schools, top hospitals, and business friendly regulations. It's among the best international business ecosystems, and embodies the American dream better than anywhere else The city boasts various top ranked private schools, five top 100 public schools and our public schools consistently outperform those in NYC and SF. You can argue the first 18 years of life are the most important, yet folks like Ken are raising and educating their kids here You only achieve that caliber of city and momentum with incredibly smart people and a great baseline. I agree Miami has serious weaknesses (ex. colleges) and won't reach its potential ignoring them. But using self deprecating language while ignoring its strengths also helps no one. Doing so is stupid, and disrespects our grandparents, parents, and all who broke their back building Miami
As a Miamian this really made me laugh. Bro was straight up saying the thing.

It's not just the weather. Good governance, low taxes, business friendly approach at the state and local level is huge. A lot of credit goes to DeSantis - others too.

How does Florida keep moving as our state continues to grow? On Monday, October 19, the Economic Club of Miami will bring together four leaders with very different perspectives on that question for: "The Business of Mobility: How Florida Moves People, Commerce & Opportunity" We are excited to welcome: Erika Donalds — an entrepreneur and policy leader whose work spans business, technology, education and public policy, bringing an important perspective on innovation and Florida’s continued growth. Patrick Goddard, CEO of Brightline Trains Florida — leading one of the most significant private passenger rail investments in the country and helping reshape how people travel between Florida’s major economic centers. Roberto J. Gonzalez, Miami-Dade County Commissioner  — who serves as Vice Chair of the County Commission’s Aviation and Seaport Committee and brings the perspective of local government, infrastructure and regional connectivity. Caryn Seidman Becker, Chairman & CEO of CLEAR — leading a company at the intersection of aviation, technology, security and the customer experience, with more than 43 million members nationwide. We’ll talk about more than simply getting from Point A to Point B. Mobility is an economic issue. It affects where people live and work, where businesses invest, how visitors experience our state, and how we connect people with opportunity. 📅 Monday, October 19, 2026 ⏰ 12:00–1:30 PM 📍 Key Biscayne, Florida 🍽️ Lunch included Registration is now open to members on our upcoming events page: econclubmiami.org/upcoming-e… Not yet a member? Apply here for your opportunity to join us: econclubmiami.org/membership… We are looking forward to bringing these four perspectives together for what should be a fascinating conversation about the infrastructure, innovation and investment required to keep Florida moving. @ErikaDonalds @GoBrightline @RobJGonzalezFL @CarynSeidman

It’s pretty incredible how much has happened in South Florida just in 2026: • Jan 12: Vanderbilt moves forward with a ~$520M West Palm Beach campus. Stephen Ross commits $50M. • Jan 20: Wells Fargo moves its Wealth & Investment Management HQ to West Palm Beach. ~$16B annual revenue business. • Jan 27: D-Wave moves its corporate HQ from Palo Alto → Boca Raton and builds a major R&D operation at BRiC. • Jan 27: FAU commits $20M to bring a D-Wave quantum computer to Boca and build out its quantum ecosystem. • Feb 17: Palantir moves its HQ from Denver → South Florida. • Mar 25: KKR opens a permanent office in Miami. • June 2: Pine Crest announces a new West Palm Beach campus. Stephen Ross ultimately commits $100M to the project. • Sep 10: Andreessen Horowitz announces a West Palm Beach regional HQ for its $1.176B American Dynamism fund. • Sep 11: Stephen Ross / Related Ross buys BRiC in Boca: 124 acres + 1.7M sq. ft. of space. • Sep 30: Ken Griffin gives Carnegie Mellon $3 BILLION, the largest individual gift in higher-ed history. $2B goes toward building CMU Miami in Wynwood for 3,500+ students. And this is on top of Citadel building its new Miami HQ and Stephen Ross planning $10B+ of investment across Palm Beach County. Vanderbilt. Carnegie Mellon. Palantir. D-Wave. a16z. KKR. Wells Fargo. Citadel. FAU. Pine Crest. Miami → Fort Lauderdale → Boca → West Palm. Feels like South Florida is hitting an inflection point, and we’re just getting started. This reads much more naturally for X/LinkedIn while keeping the numbers that make the story impressive.

Proud to be part of @BlockchainAssn's new Vaults Workstream with @ground_onchain. Vaults are a core building block for how onchain finance actually gets built. Policy should reflect how the tech really works, not force it into old wrappers. Looking forward to working with the @SECGov and peers to get this right.
1/ Blockchain Association recently launched its Vaults Workstream, and we’re proud to be joined by dozens of leading member organizations helping shape policy discussions in Washington. This level of engagement reflects the growing importance of vaults and related onchain technologies. @a16zcrypto @aave @Casper_Network @DinariGlobal @dydxfoundation @ethena @FalconXGlobal @FWDind @grayscale @ground_onchain @HallidayHQ @injective @monarq_mgmt @Morpho @multicoin @Mysten_Labs @Offchain @0xPredicate @plumenetwork @StellarOrg @UDHC @Uniswap @wintermute_t

Patrick Witt delivered @TheDemocrats most everything they asked for on CLARITY Act. Ethics provision empowering State AGs, watered down DeFi protections, circuit breaker on stablecoin yield/bank deposit flight. Now Democrats are moving the goalposts yet again. A mistake for the country and party. @SenLummis @patrickjwitt

Build, baby, build!
The most bullish thing happening in Miami tech this week wasn’t a funding round. It was this room. Six years ago, I had my first coffee with @chest in Coconut Grove after an intro from then-Mayor @FrancisSuarez and @jackabraham. Chester told me he was going all in on Miami. Not “Miami” as a trade. Miami and Florida as a community. And he did. He and Jack and team showed up personally. @atomicvc planted roots. Atomic built companies here, hired here, invested here and keeps building here. Now fast-forward to this week: Chest is sitting with the first cohort of student founders at Link College, sharing what he’s learned with kids taking their first swings. That’s the flywheel. The people who came here to build are now helping raise the generation that builds after them. Huge respect to Chest for understanding that ecosystems aren’t something you join. You leave them stronger than you found them. Building season never stopped.

SEC just dropped the agenda for its big roundtable on 24-hour trading later this month. Crypto platforms are already doing it with tokenized stocks—now TradFi is catching up. Preparedness, resiliency, and next steps on the table. 📷 crowdfundinsider.com/2026/09…

Everyone in DeFi is fighting the Earn Wars. Almost no one is asking if the product is any good. Wrote about slotting fees for "shelf space", idle capital, and why Vaults are a 2021 workaround with a 2026 pitch deck. @crowdfundinside
