🇺🇦 Zelenskyy delivers a blunt message to the United States:
“Just give us Starlink back. If you refuse, Ukraine will survive. We will continue defending ourselves with or without it.
But why would you restrict a country fighting for its survival? Why make it harder for us to defend our people?
I simply cannot understand the reasoning behind this decision. It is a mistake.”
Ukraine isn’t asking America to fight its war. It’s asking America not to stand in the way of its defense.

Congress unanimously supported this bill.
There is *ZERO* legitimate reason for Trump to waive these sanctions, other than being compromised by Russia.
Everyone, including EVERY Republican, must stand up on this issue.
It is time for Congress to find its FUCKING spine!!

None of the things he accused Bibi of doing, happened. Hamas stole the aid. The UN admitted that Hamas stole the aid. There was no war waged on civilians. There was no collective punishment. Talarico is lying, and why CAP is supporting this is more evidence of the rot.

The UN accused Israel of genocide, and one of the 3 commissioners behind that accusation just admitted, in front of a live audience, that they never independently verified one of the most explosive statistics in their own report.
Chris Sidoti insisted that his commission conducts independent investigations and doesn't simply rely on media reports.
Except paragraph 21 of their official genocide report claims that 83% of those killed in Gaza were civilians. The footnote cites The Guardian.
When asked whether the commission had actually verified that figure, Sidoti admitted:
“No, we didn't… we literally do not know.”
Now watch how this works.
The Guardian publishes a statistic. The UN cites The Guardian. TIME and other media orgs then repeat the statistic while reporting on the UN's genocide findings, giving readers the impression that they're looking at an independently established fact.
The media quotes the UN, the UN quotes the media, and somewhere along the way a newspaper's claim gets transformed into an authoritative finding of international investigators.
This is how information gets laundered. Each new citation adds another layer of credibility without necessarily adding a single piece of independent evidence.
But the commissioner himself admits they never verified the number.
We're talking about an official UN report accusing the Jewish state of the gravest crime in international law, circulated around the world as authoritative evidence, while one of its own authors acknowledges that they literally do not know whether a central statistic they published is accurate.
How many other claims in that report have been through the same process?

Never forget: a senior U.N. official who was on the ground in Israel in the aftermath of October 7th revealed how the strategy of international organizations was to decide in advance on the crime for which they would accuse Israel. “I was there, and I was absolutely stunned.” 🧵

Destroying our trees and parkland - to build some hideous Trump vanity golf course? The American taxpayer will end up stuck with the bill. Congress- do something. DC government has no power to stop this.

What happened today was a blitzkrieg on a public park. A cherished DMV space. If you are not livid about the circumstances that led up to this and what exactly the Federal government did in the past 24 hours I don’t know what to tell you.
Let’s do a quick timeline:
1. Last night, a Friday before a long weekend, at 5PM, government lawyers filed a notice that tree cutting would begin in earnest today. The stated reason was a pretext - apparently fulfilling a 2019 Cultural Landscape Review on East Potomac. This was clearly an excuse to bring the gangs in.
For months the government has stated there is no plan, nothing has been decided, going to follow the law. Ya, right.
2. At 5:30AM this morning, 3-4 dozen workers assembled at East Potomac Park. The blitzkrieg began shortly thereafter. They were given clear orders to fell as many trees as possible.
3. For hours, from 6AM until 4PM today, nothing but chainsaws. Healthy trees, old trees, all would come down. No clear estimate for the extent but at least 100 trees came down.
The devastation is apparent. Entire groves cleared. Not a single animal on the peninsula. Not a sound aside from the roar of chainsaws. Earth ripped to pieces.
Anybody that thinks it is acceptable to shred public lands to appeal to the vanity of the President of the United States needs their head examined.
We have been sounding the alarm on this for months. For months we knew this day would come. Where the President would, under dubious legal pretexts, sic his goons on a beloved public space.
This is not a local issue. This is fundamentally a question of if we the people own our public lands or the temporary resident of the White House does.

The Hamas tunnel below in Gaza, accessed through a shaft in a child's bedroom in Rafah, is where Hamas held and ultimately executed Israeli hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin at point-blank range. Hersh was kidnapped on 10/7 from the Nova music festival after a grenade blew off part of his arm. He endured almost a year of captivity and starvation before Hamas murdered him alongside 5 other hostages. Israeli forces were approaching, and Hamas apparently feared their discovery. The IDF did not know Hersh or the others were there. Yet in one of the most vile manifestations of Israel Derangement Syndrome, people like @JDiamond1 and @mehdirhasan shift responsibility for these executions away from Hamas and onto Israel. Hamas kidnapped six innocent people, held them captive for months in a dungeon leading to a child's bedroom dozens of meters below ground, then deliberately shot them rather than risk their rescue. And somehow, in the minds of these commentators, Israel becomes responsible for their murders.

Cassidy Hutchinson had her entire career ahead of her and she was willing to sacrifice it to do what so few in Washington are willing to do: tell the truth.
She has shown more courage, patriotism, and integrity than the Republican politicians who had far more power, far less to lose, and still chose to remain silent.
She is an American hero and this shameless witch hunt against her is nothing more than a vindictive waste of time and taxpayer resources.

Navi Pillay, new Nobel laureate, authored a fraudulent report accusing Israel of "genocide" in Gaza. Its very first line contains a brazen falsehood: Israel launched its military offensive including airstrikes and ground operations on 10/7. Hamas is first mentioned on PAGE 8!!
Replying to @Aizenberg55
10/7 is erased. Entire incident is presented as an Israeli attack, the reader won't know what happened. Hamas is erased too. They do not exist in the report. They are only even mentioned first 8 pages deep, and only and always in the context of Israeli claims & statements. 2/

All 40 deaths can be traced back to Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist organisations taking these people hostage in the first place.
Having established this important fact, which should have been the starting point of Diamond's framing, let's examine the “24/40” figure he is throwing around.
By CNN’s own breakdown, 11 hostages were accidentally killed by Israeli strikes or troops (friendly fire) during a military operation that began because Hamas launched a war against Israel and fought it while hiding behind both Gazan non-combatants and the hostages. Nearly half were murdered by their Hamas captors, either directly or through prolonged suffering, deprivation and denial of medical care, while the circumstances surrounding eight deaths remain unknown.
Diamond arrives at 24 by stretching the definition of deaths “traced back to Israeli military actions” to include hostages executed by Hamas because Israeli forces were approaching, often without knowing the hostages were there, and even cases where the cause of death remains uncertain.
Again, these circumstances are relevant to a legitimate debate about the risks of military pressure, but they are very different from implying, as Diamond's framing does and as other, more nefarious voices will undoubtedly exploit, that Israel killed 24 hostages.
If a kidnapper murders his hostage when police close in, the police operation may form part of the causal chain. But the murderer is still the kidnapper, who made the deliberate decision to execute his captive.
Blurring the distinction between hostages accidentally killed by Israeli fire and those deliberately murdered by Hamas as Israeli forces approached does more than mislead readers about what happened. It shifts moral agency from the captors who chose to execute their hostages onto the state attempting to rescue them. It turns a legitimate debate about the risks and consequences of military pressure into a distorted claim about responsibility.
Diamond has a responsibility to report these distinctions carefully, particularly on an issue as sensitive as the deaths of hostages. His framing, both in his tweet and in the CNN piece, failed to meet that responsibility.
Replying to @JDiamond1
We found 24/40 deaths can be traced back to Israeli military actions. That includes direct IDF strikes/gunfire, but also when Israeli military actions led captors to kill their hostages. That's not just us saying that: the IDF has acknowledged that in many of these cases /2
