Today, I had the honor to present PhysioSync-HF as a Late-Breaking Clinical Trial at #ESCCongress. Key message: In HFrEF and LBBB, conduction system pacing was *inferior* to biventricular pacing for a composite of death, HF events, and LVEF change at 12 months.

What a week at #WCC2026 and the 81st Brazilian Congress of Cardiology in Rio de Janeiro! 🇧🇷 It was great to see so many members of the IAS community together, presenting, chairing, and leading the conversation on inflammation and cardiovascular risk. 🎓 Inflammation Academy fellows took the stage, with Guilherme Gaia, MD, presenting his abstract and @AndreZimerman, MD, PhD, co-chairing the Lp(a) session alongside IAS Member @marciominame, MD, PhD. Inflammation Academy 2026 fellow Daniel Valle, MD, also joined the IAS delegation in Rio. 🦠 Together with GSK Brazil, IAS hosted a joint symposium on Viral-Induced Inflammation: Mechanisms and Cardiovascular Implications, moderated by Otávio Rizzi Coelho, MD, PhD, with IAS Immediate Past President Peter Libby, MD; Otávio Rizzi Coelho Filho, MD, PhD; and Rosana Richtmann, MD, PhD. 💉 IAS and @GSK Brazil also hosted a Masterclass on Vaccines Recommendations for CVD Patients with IAS Secretary Viviane @zorzanelli Rocha Giraldez, MD; and Peter Libby, MD. 🫀 IAS Board Member Ioanna Gouni-Berthold, MD, presented on the efficacy and safety of intensive cholesterol-lowering therapy, bempedoic acid in clinical practice, and risk enhancers in primary prevention. IAS voices were also featured across sessions on Lp(a), dyslipidemia, and residual cardiovascular risk. 🤝 The week also strengthened IAS partnerships across the region. IAS joined the @worldheartfed Regional Roundtable on Improving Lipid Management in Latin America and welcomed leaders from the Inter-American Society of Cardiology (SIAC) to dinner, including @SIAC_cardio President Ricardo López Santi, MD; SIAC Past President Fernando Wyss, MD, PhD, FACC; and Patricio López-Jaramillo, MD, PhD. Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to @rauldsf_santos, MD, PhD, MSc; Rodrigo @KarleziAlonso, MD, PhD; Sarah Fagundes Grobe, MD, PhD; Maria Cristina Izar, MD, PhD; Paulo Behr, MD, MSc; Fabiana Hanna Rached, MD, PhD; Henrique Tria Bianco, MD, PhD; Renato Jorge Alves, MD, PhD; and Andrei Sposito, MD, PhD, for sharing their expertise. Até a próxima, Rio! 💙 #WorldCongressOfCardiology #CBC2026 #Inflammation #CardiovascularHealth #Lpa

CRT crossovers discussion was very enriching. Don’t see it as a failure. You may fail, but you provide best possible care to the patient. LOTCRT? Are we designing well trials? Always love discussions with @kvernooy in the room. It reminds me my PhD defense @AndreZimerman #ESC26

Terrific thread, thank you for highlighting @FedericaFogacci!
When TG reach ≥10 mmol/L, the question is no longer only lipid lowering. It is #pancreatitis prevention. At #EASCongress2026, @AndreZimerman presents CORE TIMI 72a and CORE2 TIMI 72b data on #olezarsen in patients with TG ≥10 mmol/L and acute pancreatitis risk @TIMIStudyGroup

#EASCongress2026 @AndreZimerman presents a late breaker clinical trial exploring olezarsen for acute pancreatitins in pts w/triglycerides>10 mMol/L. As can be seen, a stark difference in favour of Olezarsen in this cohort highly exposed to risk of acute pancreatitis.

One of my favorite projects at TIMI. While exploratory, our findings support the concept that lowering LDL-C through PCSK9i may prevent the formation and progression of arterial aneurysms, including AAA. Now in @CircAHA @PrakritiGaba @marstonMD @BrianBergmark @TIMIStudyGroup
#Research letter: Earlier initiation of the PCSK9 inhibitor Evolocumab reduced the risk of arterial aneurysm events compared with delayed initiation in an analysis of the FOURIER trial ahajrnls.org/3PCdvbV

We are deeply saddened to have lost our founding chairman and the father of modern academic cardiology, Dr. Eugene Braunwald, who founded the TIMI Study Group in 1984, and with that vision profoundly shaped the practice of cardiovascular medicine across the world.

Proud to see PhysioSync-HF published in @JAMACardio. In patients with HFrEF and LBBB, conduction system pacing was inferior to biventricular pacing for a composite of death, HF events, and LVEF change at 12 months. Let us know your thoughts: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

How do Lp(a)-lowering agents affect atherogenic lipoproteins more broadly? In our @JAMACardio study, we show that olpasiran, an siRNA targeting apo(a), reduced Lp(a) in >95% without increasing non-Lp(a) particles. apoB was ultimately reduced by ~18%. @TIMIStudyGroup

These findings suggest that, with olpasiran, apoB particles normally destined to form Lp(a) are either not secreted into circulation or more efficiently cleared, providing context for interpreting results of ongoing trials of Lp(a)-lowering agents. Link: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam…

I had a great discussion with @DrJMarine on the PhysioSync-HF trial, our (unexpected) findings, and what they mean for the field. Check out our @ACCinTouch podcast episode on Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/1fl…
The PhysioSync-HF trial investigates conduction system pacing as a potentially more effective & affordable alternative to traditional cardiac resynchronization therapy. Tune into #ACCEL Lite episode for more insights ➡️ bit.ly/4qxh6pp @DrJMarine @AndreZimerman #CardioX
