I kinda disagree with the idea that digger is meant to not be funny, there were a few scenes that did get a p good laugh out of me. I think the framing of the jokes not only in universe but also compared to the absurdity of our current day makes the jokes more scary than funny

Is anyone else having trouble reconciling Digger, the movie with an absolutely ingenious message on complacency, culpability, and hopelessness, and Digger, the movie that strives to be intentionally unfunny for a lot of its runtime to get those points across

Digger in the play fossil fools is this over exaggerated texan oil tycoon stereotype who is constantly saying some absolutely absurd shit and has the physical presence so large it quite literally steals all attention towards him, but these people exist out there they arent fake

In the context of the play were supposed to be laughing at the sheer absurdity of this insane character but in the universe of the film and in real life people like digger just exist and are currently dooming the world, making the jokes more horrifying because of how real it is
