I reported on all the Garvaghy Road disputes through the Nineties and the associated deaths and destruction. Also reported on the first banned parade in Portadown in 1985. Terrible times. It’s incomprehensible that we could be heading back there

If Zionists simply accepted that a number of people 1) don't buy the '2,000 years ago I was in Haifa' claim, and 2) are not motivated by hatred or animus, they'd save themselves a lot of heartburn.
Literally no other people has ever made such a claim, much less had it recognized as some kind of indigenous land rights. With regards to the Jews of Europe - who in the overwhelmingly majority were the people who founded Israel - these claims were largely accepted out of guilt for the Nazi Holocaust, and the need for a solution to the refugee problem emerging from its aftermath.
Indeed, Jews frequently rejected and ridiculed Zionism before Hitler came to power, especially in Central and Western Europe and the US.

This is a bizarre argument. What happened on Oct 7th were war crimes and the killing of innocents. None of that justifies an Israeli ‘response’ which involved even more war crimes and the killing of even more innocents. Not sure why people struggle with this very basic point.

On this very day in 1971, Offaly football reached the summit for the very first time.
On 26 September 1971, the Faithful County walked into Croke Park with history within their grasp — and walked out as All-Ireland Senior Football Champions.
Offaly defeated Galway 1-14 to 2-08 in a landmark final, securing the county’s first-ever Sam Maguire Cup.
It was a day that changed Offaly GAA forever and gave generations of supporters a moment to remember.
55 years later, the achievement of the 1971 team remains one of the proudest chapters in the history of the Faithful County.
