ALT Schematic of workflow for characterization of Mg stents: acquisition of synchrotron-radiation X-ray microtomography scans is followed by tomographic reconstruction to yield volume data. These are then segmented using a convolutional neural network. The segmented data allow for visualization of the data and quantification of the structural parameters, especially the biodegradation of the stents.
