The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in South Sudan has summoned Sudan’s ambassador to Juba, following a drone attack that targeted the ‘Amit’ market in the north of the disputed Abyei region. The attack took place on the morning of Monday 19 October 2026 at around 11.00, when drones dropped around seven bombs on the market’s fuel sales area, resulting in fires and loss of life and property. The Abyei Administration accused the Sudanese Armed Forces of carrying out the attack. This accusation comes amidst ongoing tensions between the two countries over the status of the Abyei region. #Southsudan #Keepeyesonsudan

Sources from North Abyei report that Sudanese army aircraft struck Ostrich Market on Monday afternoon, 19 October 2026, firing six guided missiles. The sources say at least 40 people were killed and all fuel stations in the market were set ablaze. They also say the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) is present in the area, and that a UN official intends to submit a detailed report on the attack to the U.S. administration in Washington. May the victims rest in peace, and may the wounded recover swiftly. #Sudan #KeepEyesOnSudan #southsudan

Republic of the Sudan Transitional Peace Government Ministry of Health STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION Ministry of Health: Drone Attacks on El Daein city and Al-Na’am Market Constitute a Grave Threat to Civilians and a Flagrant Violation of International Humanitarian Law Nyala – 19 October 2026 The Ministry of Health of the Transitional Peace Government strongly condemns the drone attack targeting the city of El Daein and Al-Na’am Market, located in the border area between Sudan and South Sudan, carried out by the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood militia and it's army. According to preliminary information from our medical staff , the attack has so far resulted in the deaths of 19 civilians and injuries of more than 21 patients including two patients who remain in critical condition. There are serious concerns that the casualty toll may rise as medical assessments and the verification of injuries continue. The targeting of civilian areas and markets frequented by people seeking to earn a living and obtain essential supplies represents a grave escalation and demonstrates a shocking disregard for civilian lives and the fundamental right to life and security. The use of drones in attacks affecting civilian gatherings constitutes a serious violation of the principles of civilian protection under international humanitarian law. Civilian lives are not expendable, and markets are not battlefields. Continued attacks on populated areas cannot be tolerated or dismissed as isolated incidents. Such acts demand urgent attention and accountability. The Ministry of Health stresses that the consequences of these attacks extend beyond the immediate loss of life and injuries. They further aggravate the humanitarian crisis, threaten access to essential healthcare services, and deepen the suffering of families already enduring the devastating effects of war, displacement and insecurity. Accordingly, the Ministry calls for the following urgent measures: 1. The immediate cessation of attacks and any military operations targeting civilians, populated areas and markets. 2. The relevant international and humanitarian organizations should urgently monitor and document this incident, establish the circumstances surrounding the attack, and work to ensure accountability for those responsible for any violations established through credible process. 3. Humanitarian and medical organizations should provide urgent assistance to the injured, strengthen emergency medical response for critical cases, and supply the resources necessary to address the medical consequences of the attack. 4. Medical facilities, healthcare workers and ambulances must be protected, and medical personnel must be allowed to carry out their humanitarian duties without obstruction, intimidation or threats. The Ministry emphasizes that the protection of civilians is a legal and humanitarian obligation that cannot be postponed. Respect to international humanitarian law is a must including obligations to protect civilians and civilian objects against attacks. The Ministry of Health of the Transitional Peace Government further reaffirms its commitment to monitoring the medical condition of the injured, assessing urgent healthcare needs, and coordinating with humanitarian and medical organizations to ensure that all affected persons receive the necessary care without discrimination. Attacking civilians will never bring peace, and the shedding of innocent blood will never deliver security or stability. Protecting the lives of the Sudanese people is a non-negotiable obligation, and securing justice for the victims must be an urgent priority for the regional and international communities. Health is a right for all. Protecting civilians is everyone's responsibility. #Transitional_Peace_Government #Ministry_of_Health #Health_Media #Sudan #Keepeyesonsudan

The Kizan drones targeted Al-Na’am Market today, Monday 19 October 2026. I honestly don’t know how to put into words what I feel after seeing this. It is one of the most horrific and disturbing things I have ever seen. I feel sick and heartbroken thinking about innocent people in a market, simply going about their day, suddenly caught in this violence. I keep thinking about the fear they must have felt and the families waiting to hear that their loved ones are safe. These are ordinary Sudanese people trying to live their lives. They should not have to fear going to a market. This is what impunity looks like. This is what terrorism looks like. I am so tired of people telling me that SAF is there for the Sudanese people. How can I believe that? How can you believe that? The killing of 200 Sudanese miners by Egypt was allowed by SAF and its Islamist Muslim Brotherhood allies. And now SAF’s drones are targeting Sudanese civilians. I feel furious, devastated and powerless watching our people suffer while those responsible act as though Sudanese lives mean nothing. @EiadHusham when will you use harsher language ? Show us. #KeepEyesOnSudan

The SAF, under Burhan and its Islamist allies bombed markets in Nyala and West Kordofan. These markets are essential to daily life. The footage from Al-Na’am market shows why civilian markets must be protected. Targeting them threatens people’s access to food, livelihoods and basic necessities. It is a grave war crime. Life in Nyala has become more stable. People are living peacefully, and the cost of living is very low. Burhan is bitter that Nyala has achieved a level of stability he could not deliver in Khartoum. Instead of accepting that reality, he is bombing markets and committing massacres. @EiadHusham show us your journalism #keepeyesonSudan

REPUBLIC OF SUDAN TRANSITIONAL PEACE GOVERNMENT MINISTRY OF HEALTH 80 Killed and Hundreds Injured in a New Drone Attack by Muslim Brotherhood’s Terrorist Militia in West Kordofan Nyala – 19 October 2026 The Ministry of Health of the Transitional Peace Government strongly condemns the deadly drone attack carried out by terrorist Muslim Brotherhood militia and its army yesterday, Sunday, 18 October 2026, in the cities of Al-Dibab and Al-Muglad in West Kordofan. The attack resulted in approximately 80 civilian fatalities and hundreds of injuries, marking another devastating incident that underscores the grave dangers posed by continued attacks on civilians and the worsening humanitarian and public health crisis in Sudan. The Ministry expresses its profound sorrow over the loss of civilian lives and extends its sincere condolences to the families of those killed, while wishing the injured a swift and full recovery. The Ministry reaffirms that protecting civilian lives and safeguarding the right to life and access to healthcare are fundamental humanitarian and legal obligations that must never be compromised. The Ministry holds the Muslim Brotherhood’s terrorist militia and its military forces responsible for this attack, which it condemns as a grave crime against unarmed civilians and a potential war crime requiring accountability under international law. The Ministry warns of the severe health and humanitarian consequences of such attacks, including mounting pressure on hospitals and medical facilities, shortages of resources needed to treat critical injuries, disruptions to the movement of ambulances and medical supplies, and the denial or delay of emergency medical care that could mean the difference between life and death. In response to this attack, the Ministry of Health emphasizes the following: 1. Unequivocal condemnation of attacks against civilians The Ministry categorically rejects all attacks that endanger civilian lives and calls for effective measures to protect civilians and prevent further loss of life. 2. Unimpeded access to medical and humanitarian assistance The Ministry calls on international and humanitarian organizations to intensify their efforts to provide medicines, surgical supplies and emergency medical equipment; support health facilities receiving casualties; and ensure safe and unhindered access for medical teams and ambulances. 3. Protection of healthcare facilities and medical personnel The Ministry stresses the imperative of respecting and protecting hospitals, health centres, ambulances and medical personnel in accordance with international humanitarian law. Healthcare facilities must be able to fulfil their lifesaving functions without threats, interference or attack. 4. Concrete international action and accountability The Ministry calls on regional and international human rights institutions to unequivocally address this attack, pursue accountability for those responsible, and take concrete and effective measures in response to the grave allegations against the Muslim Brotherhood’s terrorist militia. Statements of condemnation must be accompanied by practical steps to strengthen civilian protection and prevent further violations. 5. An urgent call for international intervention The Ministry urges the United Nations, its relevant agencies, and international medical and humanitarian organizations to take immediate action to protect civilians and provide the necessary medical and humanitarian assistance to affected communities. The Ministry of Health of the Transitional Peace Government reaffirms that health facilities will continue, to the extent permitted by available resources, to fulfil their humanitarian duty by providing medical care to all injured persons without discrimination. This commitment is grounded in the fundamental medical and ethical principles that place human life and dignity above all political or military considerations.

The Ministry also commends the extraordinary efforts of medical and healthcare personnel in West Kordofan and across all areas administered by the Transitional Peace Government. These professionals continue to provide essential healthcare services under exceptionally difficult conditions, despite the devastating consequences of the ongoing war and the attacks attributed to the militia. Civilian lives are not military targets. Hospitals are not battlefields. The right to life and access to medical care must be protected under all circumstances. Health is a right for all. The protection of civilians is a responsibility that admits no compromise. #Transitional_Peace_Government #Ministry_of_Health #Sudan #keepeyesonsudan
