SCBWI celebrated Halloween by attending HALLO-READ, an event hosted by the President and First Lady at The White House. This year’s theme was selected by Dr. Biden, who was a teacher for over 40 years. She incorporated her love of reading into this spooktacular event.

My friends 4 year old had questions about my book:
“Why were your aunts trying to protect you?”
“Why were they able to stay but you had to leave?”
and finally “that's unfair”
How can someone so little understand so much?

Delightfully lively illustrations (including endpages) inspired by author’s family celebrations. Attentive readers may note skeleton heads on family tree for ones who have passed on. Love how abuelita arrives with the monarch butterflies! @Anaranda2 @DISD_Libraries #bookaday
