It's almost middle school basketball time! My only issues, I'm probably losing my top two girls to varsity basketball. We are robbing Peter to pay Paul.
On Sunday, I spent two hours at school, and for the day overall, I was just angry. Seething angry. And I'm not sure why.
When I returned home, I saw milk weeds had opened up in one of our flower beds.
One of my favorite things in the fall, grabbing those pods and moving seeds.
This year was maybe our best year of milkweed growth since we moved out to the property. The problem, they were EVERYWHERE: our veggie garden, our flower gardens, in random spots, everywhere!
So, I'm picking seeds out of those gardens, and dispersing them.
Fever got within two..
Mitchell with a bobble.
Boston with another imaginary foul.
They went cold when they needed some heat.
It was a good season for the Fever, but damn, what could have been.
WNBA officiating = suspect at best.
Fever got close, then the refs got involved.
Wilson tripped by the turf monster; Boston gets the foul.

Prince was asked to do a solo on a cover of While My Guitar Gently Weeps and he showed up to the rehearsal and barely played anything. Didn’t have any solo ready at all and didn’t play one. They asked what he was going to play and he just said “Don’t worry about it.”
Then, on the night of the performance he just looms out of the shadows and plays this. The way he pivots off that F# root note into Dorian mode is so good. Massively underrated guitarist.
Not my education account, but we had this very conversation yesterday: how we've taken all the fun out of school and replaced it with data, data, data, testing, testing, testing.
Fever = 5 missed shots from within two feet of the basket. You aren't going to win a knockout game shooting like crap from that close.

People will happily commit their children to professional sports and coaches who require hours of repeated drills and practice.
But when it comes to math, suddenly we hear that “too much practice” is a bad thing.
If athletes want to develop automaticity, they practice the skill repeatedly.
If we want a student to develop automaticity in math, we ALSO need them to practice the skill repeatedly.
Practice isn’t the enemy to be avoided. Practice is how skills become automatic.
