ALT Classic Streets: Among the most notable (and complex) successes by Hamilton-Baillie was the five-road intersection at Poynton in northeast Cheshire (2012). Hamilton-Baillie's subtle and effective composition of road surfaces gives drivers cues about what is coming in the simplest terms. All signals, road markings, road signs, and street clutter were removed. The approach roads' tarmac, which gives way to patterned and textured brick, encourages them to slow down and then drive where they want. Both speeds and accidents at the junction dropped drastically and the scheme restored vitality to the village center.

ALT In the first three years following the redevelopment, there was only one minor injury accident, compared to about 15 in the three years prior to the project, while delays for pedestrians and overall travel times for drivers were reduced.
