I appreciated that @RalstonReports highlighted that our own #NVLeg has given @NSHE Higher Ed the short shrift in the past. Yes. They have. Will the 83rd Leg be any different?!?
At @NevadaStateU this morning at a roundtable with NSHE Southern Nevada presidents moderated by @RalstonReports. He asks them for their reactions to the prez election results.

In case folks are wondering how to vote on Question 1 (about @NSHE Regents), here’s my piece on why I’m a “no” to changing the Constitution
All of the @NevadaRegents shenanigans tip me to vote Yes on 1 until I remind myself that “legislators on the February NFA Zoom said there was no plan or specifics for what might be changed.” So then it’s a devil you know vs the devil you don’t choice. 👎🏽 nevadafacultyalliance.org/Ne…

We have many choices when we persuade in campaigns. The goal of the Dignity Index is really to make us aware of those choices and whether we really have to resort to creating villains to win elections #Rhetoric @unevadareno @GuinnCenter
NEW POD 🎙️ What is an acceptable political attack and what crosses the line? UNR's @AmyPason ranks attacks like 'Death Smith' and 'Veto Villain' on the Dignity Index. Plus, Andre Wade w/ @silverstateeq on the effect attacks like 'Drag Queen Devon' have on the LGBTQ community.

Had a really great conversation with @BenMargiott on his podcast. Excited to analyze this year’s election with the Dignity Index in collaboration with @GuinnCenter

My rhetorical hot takes on AOC’s speech didn’t make it in, but still happy to get quoted! Influence of surrogates (making us like Biden by association with others)

Drag Queen Devon. Death Smith. Veto Villain — nasty political attacks are the norm in northern Nevada now. What does it do to the people targeted? Where should we draw the line? Part 1 of our series on Ballot Battleground: Nevada - feat. Beth Smith & Dr. @AmyPason is out now.

I can’t say enough about the research and care @TheNVIndy reporters do covering stories that matter. @jacobsolisnv coverage of #highered will be missed!

#NVLeg presented @NSHE with a great math problem. How much can you raise fees and not lose enrollment? How much can you lower COLA and not lose faculty? How much can we cut faculty positions (and programs) without losing students AND faculty?
A panel of students, faculty and administrators from across the Nevada System of Higher Education met Wednesday with one goal: Come up with ways to cover the $63 million needed to fund faculty raises in the face of budget shortfalls. Via @jacobsolisnv: thenevadaindependent.com/art…

Faculty Senate chair @unevadareno doing awesome fostering dialogue in this Campus Conversation on budget. #SharedGovernance #HigherEd @NSHE

If you want to know what shared governance looks like, @unevadareno is hosting a campus conversation on the budget. Leadership there, moderated by Faculty Senate. Accommodations for all to speak and contribute! @NSHE

We certainly are supportive of the Regents getting educated on governance. Why not contact @AAUP who literally have a book on it? @NSHE
Thanks for that finger-wagging, @NevadaRegents Goodman. Today's @NSHE presentation from the Martin Center *is* political and this group has been responsible for systematically dismantling higher education in North Carolina and Florida.

Public comment gone slightly off rails (hard to determine if Regents discussing item or giving public comment). Always something new!
In a change of norms, Regent Goodman doing public comment, telling faculty their advocacy should be to oppose taking BOR out of constitution. Recognizes presentation from conservative group, but we should still listen. @NSHE

The last thing @NSHE needs is to take advice from someone who advised Florida, N. Carolina and TX #HigherEd. Faculty leave those states in droves. Let’s not make retention worse here in NV!
