New Mexico’s name dates back hundreds of years, long before the United States even existed. It carries generations of history, culture, and rich traditions that continue to shape who we are.
We are New Mexicans. We’re proud of our name, proud of our home, and we’re keeping both. Long after Donald Trump is out of office, we’ll still be New Mexico.

New Mexico is New Mexico, and you lost here three times because you're corrupt and don't care about working people.
You should be focused on ending this war, stopping these tariffs, and making things less expensive–not renaming our state.
New Mexico should immediately change its name to New America. We are not Mexico, we are the United States of America! The name would add great value and prestige to the State! Home Values and Incomes would rise, and you would be even prouder while saluting our beautiful American Flag! Maybe even the Crooked Elections, that New Mexico is known for, would become honest again!

A private company wants to lease 9,000 acres of public land in Utah for a project involving 456 nuclear reactors.
The Bureau of Land Management is reviewing the application.
This has never been done before.
The company, Valar Atomics, isn't starting from zero. Utah's Trust Lands Administration already approved a separate lease for part of this same project, a square mile of state land, for up to 100 years.
Together the site would hold the reactors, a nuclear fuel production facility, and a nuclear waste storage site. All of it on land that's supposed to belong to the public.
Carbon County residents say they weren't told until it was already underway. The county has defended using non-disclosure agreements to land the deal.
A local physics professor says the valley's geography could trap the heat these reactors throw off.
The Department of Energy already used a "categorical exclusion" to approve the test reactor behind this project. No environmental assessment. No impact statement. No public comment period at all.
Valar Atomics has built and run exactly one test reactor. It powered a single computer chip. Now they want 456, built at industrial scale. The company's founder has no nuclear engineering background. Nuclear engineers have already publicly disputed the company's safety claims. And Valar hasn't even submitted a design to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, they're suing the NRC instead, over the safety rules they'd have to follow.
456 nuclear reactors don't belong next to a town that never got a vote, and it's time to make your voice heard. Petition is in the first reply.

“Trespassing on our land to remove the sacred saguaros is like having masked men break into your house and take away your children,” Tohono O’odham Nation Chairman Verlon Jose said in a statement. “The ha:sañ are our family, as much a part of us as any blood relative. To destroy them by the thousands carves a wound in our hearts that will not heal.”
Quote from @EmilyBregel's feature story on the thousands of sacred saguaros now targeted by DHS bulldozers on the Tohono O'odham nation to make way for two layers of border wall .
I took this photo at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in 2020, where extensive saguaro destruction took place for wall construction.

Burgum is pushing another federal land swap at Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia, just like the one at Yosemite.
Both use the same move: hand federal park land to private interests, funded in part by the Land and Water Conservation Fund, money meant for conservation.
Two wealthy families want to trade land with the Park Service so they can build up to 15 private homes, some up to 15,000 sq ft, inside wilderness Congress said in 1972 must stay "permanently preserved in its primitive state."
It's loggerhead sea turtle nesting ground, home to 30% of Georgia's total, plus four other protected sea turtle species, red knots, and piping plovers. A watchdog group had to FOIA the draft deed terms just to see them. Georgia's own Camden County Commission wouldn't endorse the deal.
A former Yosemite superintendent called that deal "so ridiculous, it makes you sick."
Here's the mechanism. The Land and Water Conservation Fund exists specifically to buy and protect public land, funded by offshore oil and gas royalties, as an environmental offset for that drilling. Burgum's Interior has been trying to redirect that same money away from buying conservation land and toward "deferred maintenance" instead. Sen. Martin Heinrich (D-NM) says that diversion is illegal and expects it to get sued over.
So the fund meant to protect land from exactly this kind of loss is being hollowed out, then tapped again to help pay private developers to take park land in the first place.
This isn't one bad deal. It's a pattern. How many other national parks does this admin have waiting in the pipeline, ready to be sliced off to private interests?
Tell NPS this shouldn't move forward funded by conservation dollars it was never meant to touch. We don't have much time. Link is in the first reply.

Trump's D.C. Chainsaw Massacre: Over 500 Historic Trees Gutted to Build a Millionaire's Golf Course
Donald Trump has begun actively destroying hundreds of trees in Washington, D.C., and the lack of mainstream coverage is absolutely criminal.
Please scream this from the rooftops and spread the word immediately! These aren't dead, dying, or invasive trees — these are perfectly healthy, decades-old oak and maple trees that are being brutally clear-cut. This disturbing footage from Rick Maese at The Washington Post exposes the truth: the Trump administration is massacring upwards of 500 healthy, historic trees at the East Potomac Golf Course.
But honestly, why are we surprised? This is just the latest chapter in Trump's complete and utter disregard for our nation's historic capital. It follows the exact same playbook as his shocking demolition of the White House East Wing, and the disastrous, botched "renovations" of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool that left an iconic American landmark falling apart and peeling. To make matters even more sickening, they've even been dumping toxic debris from the demolished East Wing right onto this very public parkland!
The National Park Service is trying to gaslight the public by claiming this ecological disaster is just routine maintenance, but we know the truth: they are gutting public land to build a glitzy, exclusive championship golf course. Residents across the city are rightfully furious and disgusted. Witnessing 500+ majestic trees being ripped out of the ground is an absolute horror show for the people living in this city.
Do not let them slide on this. Share this everywhere, expose this environmental atrocity, and follow for updates.

How does a newborn get hepatitis B?
Perhaps you should read the Alaska studies from the 1970s and 1980s.
Researchers documented extensive hepatitis B transmission among children and within households, often without an identifiable history of blood exposure.
Children were infecting other children. Many infected people had no symptoms and had no idea they were carrying the virus.
And infants who become infected have roughly a 90% chance of developing chronic hepatitis B, with lifelong risks of cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Alaska introduced newborn vaccination and widespread childhood immunization. Hepatitis B infections in children plummeted, as did childhood liver cancer.
We studied this decades ago. We know what happens when children aren’t protected, and we know what vaccination accomplished.
Perhaps learn some of that history before assuming infants cannot acquire hepatitis B.

🚨 On Monday, Indigenous Peoples' Day, thousands of saguaros the Tohono O'odham consider people will be ripped out of the ground, for not one wall, but two.
The saguaros are called ha:şañ. Removing one isn't just destroying a plant, it's considered an act of violence against a person.
The Nation was only notified Friday.
The Nation filed an emergency injunction with the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals this week trying to stop it. Removing a saguaro without a permit is illegal. DHS is moving forward anyway, citing a border emergency to bypass that requirement.
Chairman Verlon Jose put it plainly: "Trespassing on our land to remove the sacred saguaros is like having masked men break into your house and take away your children.”
But here's what you can do today. There's a way to speak up on this exact project. It's in the first reply.
