In my last post in honor of Jewish American Heritage Month, I want to recognize Emma Lazarus, author of poetry, prose, and translations and an activist for Jewish causes. She wrote the sonnet "The New Colossus" in 1883, which appears on the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty.
