To be clear MInnesota and the supper Midwest traded away the Monarch Butterfly for: ethanol, corn syrup, soy beans and a lot of worthless grass. #silentspringishere npr.org/2022/07/21/111268810…

Because 2021 may be the smallest honey crop ever made in the USA We have lost significant forage for bees since 1990’s. Pollinators need to be elevated to Bald Eagle status and a nationwide campaign to replant “Land for Bees” in USA reminiscent of Smoky the Bear is what is needed
The State of Mn basically released a license plate commemorating the monarch and rusty patch bumble bee we once had in Minnesota.
What a pathetic and sad day, the monarch butterfly and rusty patch bumble bee are essentially gone from MN already. m.startribune.com/endangered…
Mn lost 53% commercial bee hives 63% of honey crop in 25 yrs. Beekeepers & Pollinators need help now! Need state pollinator forage planting program before it’s too late Consider ban cosmetic use of herbicides @GovTimWalz @MNagriculture @amyklobuchar @TinaSmithMN @UMNBeeLab_Squad

Founded by Brock Berglund and Anna Wilson on an idyllic plot of land near Alexandria, MN, Ida Graves Distillery makes a delightful vodka derived from @AmesFarm's local honey. growlermag.com/now-open-alex…
A pathetic capitulation to the chemical and factory farm complex. I reject this notion, small farms can and do feed a significant part of the USA and do it with less economic and environmental damage. apnews.com/5045af6cf4a24626a…

We create new life by raising queen bees that create more life by the pollination of millions of plants the new bees touch. Those plants then sustain lives of animals, birds that eat the plants and also then become a source of food for the top of the food chain #CircleOfLife
I learned a new bee related word today that describes me well. Apiologist: A person who studies apiology, the science of bees and honey-making.

.@amesfarm makes single source honey. Each jar of honey has the location, hive number, and floral source printed on the label, making it unique and specific to a time and place in Minnesota. How cool is that? Come try a sample today at Franklin or tomorrow at Friendship; 11am-2pm
“in the early 1980s, entomologist Adam Catton Messer described watching a female Wallace's giant bee using its mandibles to scrape resin from a tree and using its labrum and mandibles to roll the resin into a large ball — which it then carried as it flew back to its nest.” 😊
everybody, please say hello to our good new friend, the Wallace's giant bee. isn't she beautiful n.pr/2GTopUW
