Yesterday, the Trump EPA announced the nation’s largest deregulatory action ever taken to promote U.S. power. Coal helped build America, powering the factories, industries, and electric grid that made our nation an economic powerhouse. And coal remains essential today, providing roughly 20% of America’s electricity and delivering the reliable, affordable power our economy and communities depend on.
Wind and solar received approximately $145 billion in federal spending and tax benefits between 2010 to 2023. That’s almost seven times what was given to the coal industry.
The NCC’s latest report offers recommendations for leveling the playing field and preserving coal’s essential role in keeping electricity reliable and affordable.
