Student at the University of Florida on a foreign visa studying food and resource economics has been picked up by ICE over a simple traffic violation and is now being held in the hellhole that is Krome Detention Center. He has not been heard from since April 1st.
Breaking: A @UF student has been detained by ICE. It appears to be the first reported case of a Florida college student being detained by the agency amid Trump’s latest immigration crackdown. miaminewtimes.com/news/uf-st…

I was watching him on live just a couple of days ago. He did a little series called “planting everyday until this genocide is over”. He was planting different herbs & things in buckets and bottles. Planting was a form of resistance for him. May God have mercy upon you, Medo.
Friends of Palestinian content creator Medo (Mohammad) Halimy reported on social media that the 19-year-old has succumbed to his wounds after an Israeli airstrike on Gaza left him in a coma. Halimy made videos documenting his daily life during the genocide and was determined to keep planting everyday as part of his resistance against the occupation. He amassed over 200K followers across Instagram and TikTok. His last Instagram post, uploaded just two days ago, was a video showing his tent life in Gaza. In an interview with Fault Magazine in June, Halimy expressed his happiness over the support his videos received, “the most joy I get now is from the comments on my videos and the support from people worldwide. Seeing people recognize the truth and view the situation from an unbiased perspective is very uplifting.” “After this genocide is over, I will pursue my life dreams, no matter how long it takes—even if it takes 50 years. I aim to achieve so much that everyone will remember my name.”

“We do everything. We wear our press jackets. We wear our helmets. But we have been targeted in normal places where normal citizens are.” Al Jazeera's journalist Hind Khoudary reports on the killing of her colleagues, journalist Ismail al-Ghoul and cameraman Rami al-Rifee, who were killed by an Israeli air strike that targeted their car in Gaza. Al-Ghoul and al-Rifee were targeted after they finished their coverage. They were on their way to al-Ahli Arab Hospital after being asked to leave the area by Israeli forces. The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists has reported that 108 media workers have been killed as of July 5, making this the deadliest period since the group began gathering data in 1992.

Half of the journalists in Gaza have been killed in the last three weeks. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, this is the highest fatality rate for journalists in any conflict in history.
Mohammed AboHatab.. From all of us! Our hearts are shattered. Tonight, the nation is bidding farewell to one of its kindest and most passionate journalists in Gaza, the voice of our people who, along with his entire family, was murdered by the Israeli military in Khan Younes.

Athanasius Kircher, 1600s polymath, was apparently under the impression that sloths sing "in perfect hexacords." Here's an illustration of a sloth and its song:
