Today, I released the first beta of a new free image editor (hand-written, no vibecoding): PixelWorkstation, available here: ambiera.com/pixelworkstation…
To my surprise it uses a lot less memory than other apps I've just tried:
I usually always have a lot of respect for those large mega corporations.
Then I need to integrate a simple C++ lib made by them and the disappointment never stops.
Endless senseless dependencies. Broken build scripts. Outdated documentation. Nothing works.
🤷♂️
Good news: RocketCake 7.4 website builder is available now!
With support for CSS accent colors, controls for quickly adjusting UI values, auto height option for table cells, new documentation manual and a lot more.

Since December last year, finally even Safari now fully supports the "accent-color" CSS property.
Some few mobile browsers only partially (looking at you Chrome) - but still.
Meaning I finally can add AccentColors to RocketCake - making it possible to customize controls. Yay!
I found a bug in the Microsoft partner center, trying to report it for 6 months now. A bug which prevents me to report errors to Microsoft.
But I cannot.
There is no way to file a ticket without getting an error - which is probably the same reason for the bug I want to report.
RocketCake website builder 7.3 released: improved Linux compatibility, pixel perfect table cell adjustments, cleanup command and a lot more.

A company I work with now has switched to using AI instead of people not only for answering mails but also doing productive work apparently.
It's easy to tell by the AI style responses ("sure thing!", "you are totally right!") - I could live with those.
The problem is that
Good news: RocketCake 7.2 just released - and it now is also available as native Linux app! (beta for now - please let me know any feedback!)
Also: support for newest Galaxy & iPhone devices, modernized UI, improved components and more!

Interesting side effect of developing a native Linux app is that it will look and behave different depending on the desktop environment your Linux distribution is using. For all I tested it with, I like Cinnamon on Linux Mint the best so far:
I was able to make RocketCake run natively on Linux. Still a bit of work necessary, but it works.
Looks like we get a new website builder to Linux in the near future. #WebDevelopment #linux
Just witnessed a person having lost access to his webserver, which still served his website. He needed the .html files and asked for help.
Lo and behold, what was the most upvoted solution to this problem?
"Make a screenshot of your website and ask an AI to recreate it"
😶
Rumors say Windows 12 will be subscription based and "AI focused".
If true then I'll switch to Linux instantly - and I guess I'm not the only one.
With AI, I'm about as fast as without 🤷:
Currently writing a C++ app and compared the speed, on average for small tasks:
Without AI manually: 10 min
With AI: 11 min [prompt (2 min) - agent runs (3 min) - review code (2 min) - let it fix the bugs, then I clean up (4-6 min)]
The ridiculous amount of steps to buy and play Minecraft:
• create Microsoft account
• buy game in Windows store
• download mincecraft launcher
• create xbox account
• update minecraft launcher
• create minecraft profile
• download and install minecraft
Just released the website builder RocketCake in version 7.1 with multiple HTML file import, improved CSS code generation and lots of improvements for macOS Tahoe.
That last one was quite some work where I prefer not to speak more about (debugging trauma) 😁
