Congress asked WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert to define what a woman is under the league's eligibility rules.
Her response? Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White are both men.
Well, Cathy, that wasn't the question.
The WNBA still hasn't explained the actual criteria it uses to determine who qualifies to compete in women's professional basketball.
All we know now is that Enes and Royce are not women.
We are still waiting for Cathy Englebert and the WNBA to educate us on what actually is a woman.

The WNBA has a serious culture problem, and its not in the city of Indianapolis.
At the WNBA Finals, women wearing XX-XY shirts were met with an appalling display of hostility from Golden State Valkyries fans.
Middle fingers. Obscenities. Verbal abuse. One fan reportedly even told a woman to kill herself.
These women came to watch basketball and support women's sports. Instead, they were escorted from their seats by security while surrounding fans celebrated their departure.
And the irony? The WNBA continually preaches tolerance, acceptance and inclusivity.
Apparently, some of its fans have a very different interpretation of those principles.

What I-638 actually does is protect the female category that Title IX recognized in 1972 and that federal law, World Athletics, the WTA, and the IOC all protect today. Every student can still play. In the end, no girl should lose a starting position, a medal, or a college recruiting opportunity because the category created for her went unprotected.
