Hear me out…
Two years back I joined X because I was tired….
Tired of jobs being posted on LinkedIn and within 1 hour of that, 100s of people had already applied. Everyone on LinkedIn was fake, trying to show how they were well-rounded and highly skilled. I barely made any REAL connections there.
Tired of tech influencers on Instagram saying, “COMMENT HI AND I WILL SEND YOU THIS IN YOUR DM,” just to increase their reach. I kept following them, commenting on their reels, getting the material in my DMs, and never really looking at it.
Then there was the cold email era where you send out 1000s of cold emails to recruiters, startup founders, and people in tech to either get a job or get some assistance for your startup. But let’s be honest, out of those 1000 emails, only 10–15 people (max) would reply.
But then there was X, where everyone is just being themselves. Even the most skilled people in your domain feel reachable here. Yes, there are a lot of shitposters, but there are also people who are really, really working hard and building something.
Hence, @shrav_10 and I are creating an X Chat for everyone interested in STARTUPS or TECH, where there will be only REAL tech talk.
We all can post important resources, job openings, and literally even collaborate and discuss startup ideas.
If you’re willing to actually GROW and NETWORK with the right kind of people here on X, then comment/quote/repost anything on this post and I’ll add you to the group chat.
Like I said, the right guidance and network can change your life forever!
This is a game changer!
Someone just referred me for a remote job in Canada. People ask me, "How are you getting these international remote opportunities?"
My answer is simple.
Take your social media seriously.
Most people are just starting their journey. You don't have money for Connects, and you don't want to waste the little you have. You're not at the stage where you can comfortably spend hundreds of thousands on Connects.
So here's what you should do.
Avoid distractions. If you need to deactivate some of your other social media accounts, do it. You might think they're not distracting you, but you'll be surprised how much time and attention they steal.
Focus on whatever is going to make you money.
One thing I've learned is that increasing the number of people you talk to increases the number of opportunities you get.
Even on my burner account, I still network. I still introduce myself. I still meet new people. I still try to come out of my shell.
This is something every beginner should be doing.
Every day, challenge yourself to start conversations with at least 10 people.
You won't keep up with everyone, and not everyone will reply. That's normal.
But eventually, someone will check out your profile, remember your name, or think of you when an opportunity comes up.
That's how referrals start.
This simple habit changed the game for me.
At the same time, be patient. If you know you don't have money for premium tools or paid shortcuts, then your advantage is consistency and networking.
Keep showing up.
Keep talking to people.
Keep building relationships.
You never know who will open the next door for you.

If you have a family that only wants the best for you, you don’t know what God has done for you.
Burna boy family is a good example.

This generation needs to decenter this AESTHETIC mentality.
You’re making a video in your fathers house and you started with “ignore the background”, because e no get POP,
For house wey your papa sweat build.
You’re starting a small business but you want it to be aesthetically pleasing straight away, wasting money on packaging.
Everything we do now we want it to be AESTHETICALLY PLEASING.
Let’s just free ourselves from this shackles and live freely.

Imagine you suddenly jam $1 million today. Even if you have had a solid business plan written down for the last five years, rushing to execute it the very next morning is a trap.
Why? Because the version of you that wrote those plans was looking at the world through the lens of someone without money. The moment $1 million enters your reality, your options, your access, and the scale of what you can achieve completely change.
If you dive in immediately out of excitement, you risk making rushed, emotional investments rather than calculated moves.

We were raised to fear unemployment but nobody told us employment could also be the trap. N150k with no time, no peace, and no future plan is not a win. It's just a slower version of stuck.

My neighbour used to charge me ₦500 every day to keep things in her freezer because she had solar power.
Then she and her boyfriend had a serious fight and broke up. The boyfriend moved out and took all his properties with him.
A few weeks later, I installed my own solar system.
Now, whenever she wants to charge her phone or power bank, I charge her ₦600.
She's the only neighbour I charge. Everyone else charges their devices for free.
She later found out that I'm not collecting money from any other neighbour.
Yesterday, she knocked on my door and told me that I'm very wicked and inconsiderate🙄

She told me she is seriously searching for a husband.
I asked her, "But you don't have a job, a business, or any skill. You want to enter marriage empty-handed? What exactly will you use to support the man?"
She replied, "Prayer and advice."
I told her, "Why can't you use that same prayer and advice to better your life first before becoming a burden to another man?"
I was still typing when her message popped up:
"I no blame you. Na me carry my matter come meet you."
How can a 35-year-old lady be happy doing nothing?
No job, no business, no skill🙄
