i saw but a map of some random indie game terrain and a spark inside me crackled for a Paladins rpg fan game… which is aaaa because its cool asf and i already have 2 fan games im actively working on and another is such a yay
i had an idea a little bit back for a video game and i was like “man source 2 physics could be an extremely useful engine for that… shame it’s private”
it would be sick as fuck if valve released a licensable version of source; give developers jumping ship from ue something sick

Day 29 of #palatober is "Fate" This was actually the first image I had ever made for this challenge but I figured it didn't fit the theme of the day well enough then. I'd say it fits a bit better now. #palatober26
randomness in video games should only be used in situations that the player can find a “correct” solution that mathematically produces the highest output.
having randomness means that runs differ and the specifications of a run change a player’s decision making (ex. Pokemon)
randomness feels like shit and should follow a set of rules that can be easily understood by the player, assisted by a visualization of the randomness (ex. critical strikes)
randomness for the sake of randomness without a clear problem it is attempting to solve seems annoying
