A disturbance in the western Atlantic could bring some changes to the forecast this week, but not all of them are bad news! While the system has the potential to develop into a subtropical cyclone, it's expected to remain offshore, bringing the possibility of gusty winds, coastal flooding and dangerous surf along portions of the East Coast. For Florida and much of the Southeast, the same system could help usher in cooler temperatures, drier air and some beautiful fall weather. Our Emmy Award-winning meteorologist Natalie Ferrari breaks down what we're watching in the Atlantic and what it means for the week ahead in her latest forecast.

The Atlantic basin remains quiet, with little indication of tropical development in the days ahead. According to American Integrity in-house Meteorologist Natalie Ferrari, the Atlantic, Caribbean and Gulf are all quiet from a tropical development standpoint, with the National Hurricane Center forecasting no tropical cyclone formation over the next seven days. Looking farther out, long-range model guidance also shows no clear signal for tropical development at this time. Of course, forecasts can change, especially this time of year, so continued monitoring remains important. Hurricane season runs through November 30, but for now, the Atlantic basin is giving us a bit of a breather.

Recovering from Hurricane Isaias is challenging enough without the added concern of contractor fraud. If you've encountered suspicious activity while arranging repairs to your home, knowing where to report it can help protect you and other homeowners. Here's what to do if you suspect fraud: 1. Document the activity by saving contracts, estimates, receipts, messages and any other records related to the contractor. 2. Report suspected insurance fraud by contacting the Florida Department of Financial Services at 1-800-378-0445 or filing a report online at First.FLDFS.com. 3. Report unlicensed contractors by contacting the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation at MyFloridaLicense.com or 866-532-1440. 4. If the suspicious activity involves your American Integrity claim, call our Claims Team at 866-277-9871 so we can review your concerns. You don't need to determine whether fraud has occurred before reporting suspicious activity. The appropriate authorities can review the information and investigate. As you work toward recovery, please know that your insurance company and adjuster are there to help you protect your home and navigate the claims process.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias, homeowners may be faced with unexpected repairs and important decisions about their property. Unfortunately, this is also a time when fraudulent contractors and scammers may try to take advantage of those recovering from storm damage. As you begin assessing damage and arranging repairs, here are a few ways to protect yourself: • Verify credentials. Check that contractors are properly licensed and insured before agreeing to any work. • Be cautious of unsolicited offers. Be wary of anyone who shows up uninvited, pressures you to make an immediate decision or promises repairs that seem too good to be true. • Review before you sign. Read contracts carefully and be especially cautious of documents that transfer your insurance benefits or rights to a third party. • Avoid large upfront payments. Be cautious of contractors demanding substantial payment before work begins, and never pay the full amount before the work is completed. • Protect your personal information. Never share your policy number, banking details or other sensitive information with someone whose identity you haven't verified. If your home sustained damage, report your claim directly through our Customer Portal at myaii.com or contact our Claims Team at 844-692-4421. Recovering from a hurricane can be challenging enough without the added burden of fraud. Take your time, ask questions and know that our Claims Team is here to help you navigate the process.
