I read "The Odyssey" in high school during the 70s.
It didn’t have black people in it.
It didn’t have trans people in it.
It was just a story about a man fighting monsters, surviving impossible odds, and trying to get back to his wife, his son, and his homeland.
It wasn’t a lecture about how toxic men are.
It wasn’t a lesson about how difficult women had it.
It was simply an epic adventure about a hero.
And I loved it.
Period.
So when Antinous tells Telemachus:
"You’re pining for a daddy you didn’t even know"...
...the true audience will be pining for the actual "Odyssey" they DO know and love.
Because this is "The Odyssey" for stupid people.
