There is exciting things happening in this space every day, if you know where to look! Corpos are guided by profits, so it makes sense they will lean into the what works and make their investments pay off instead of constantly taking risks because, they are a corpo. That being said, Hololive is STILL doing big, live production on a scale that no one else is so I always look forward to see what they’re cooking. Additionally, they’ve been setting precedents for marketing potential within this space and for me, that’s really exciting to see because it makes more opportunities for brands to be open to working with Vtubers. One really cool example is how two of their talents were cast in the Japanese dub of Project Hail Mary and did an EPK with Ryan Gosling. It’s taking Vtubing to the general entertainment space and introducing the medium to a much much wider audience. For people doing new, exciting things- there’s so many Vtubers inventing different ways to do this. Look at @AlpineShowTime , @thisisgoblin , @ch3rrylem0nade , @TYJlRO , @JulieOkahara and others- there’s many people out there experimenting its art styles, tech and tools to reimagine our approach. We are seeing major strides in 3D tech in the space and as a result, concert production value is growing SO much in the indie sphere especially. Allowing for more complicated choreography, lighting design for live performances, mixing virtual performance with live bands- nothing like that was happening six years ago aside from Vocaloid. I also believe that if you want to see something happen, then make it happen. Explore your own creativity and have the courage to showcase it. I’m sure there are others who feel similarly to you, so give them a reason to be excited :)
