Ironically, The Wire seems to be using "South Asia" correctly here. "South Asia" = Pakistanis + Bangladeshis + Indian Moslems

This baby elephant got separated from its herd and wandered into a village. Look at how people are treating this helpless animal. One man is hiding behind a tree, hitting the baby elephant and then running to the other side whenever it tries to chase him. He keeps repeating this, using the tree to hide from the frightened animal. Meanwhile, people standing all around are laughing, shouting, and enjoying the situation instead of helping the poor elephant. The baby is surrounded by people on all sides, being harassed and provoked. It is heartbreaking to watch an innocent animal being treated this way. Humans can be so cruel to innocent animals. People torment them for fun, and when they finally fight back out of fear, they are blamed for being aggressive. These animals cannot explain their pain or ask us to stop. They deserve kindness, not cruelty.

No matter how big our differences with CJP can be, you cannot possibly ignore the deliberate procedural issues being created to keep the two chaps in jail. If a precedence is set, it will repeat with everyone. Parties come and go, bureaucracy will remain the same.

This lady whose Nobel Peace Prize you want to celebrate not only never condemned Pak sponsored terrorism against India but also could not bring herself to decry Pak role in the Mumbai terror mayhem in 2008. Worse, she said this -absolving Pak of any role in this attack and suggesting it was local. Shameful: "Whenever there is an act of terrorism, one points fingers at neighbouring countries, thereby absolving oneself of all responsibility... Terrorists need not be from outside; they can be home grown. When you accuse others, you fail to take steps to correct the problem at home."
Very useful 101 for those tracking the #NobelPeacePrize Justice Navi Pillay issue...Thanks Editor Varadarajan @svaradarajan

When hindus do something wrong. It's hindu relious extremists. Hindutva fascist state. Hindu patriarchal society. Hindu misogynist men. When other do something wrong- all religions are bad. All men are bad. All society is patriarchal. All states are authoritarian.
There’s a subtle message for Indians in the murder (beheading) of Bangladeshi couple in Saudi Arabia: Never let religion dictate the rules of a land & never let your country be overtaken by religious zeolites. Faith is the end of imagination, not the beginning of it.

Nobody wants a monthly rerun of an old man whining about people who aren’t even alive. People have grown tired of the constant cry-baby act, the desperate need for attention, the exhausting ‘pick-me’ energy. At some point, even the audience stops feeling sorry for you and starts rolling its eyes. That time has come. Read the room and move on.
Gentle reminder: "Very low listernship of PM's Mann ki Baat" Figures from 2022 - it has only tanked further since. (Hence all other voices are being stifeld and jailed)

Have you ever felt that open, democratic societies are held to a higher standard compared to closed societies that do not allow religious freedoms? Should it not be the other way round? This reel was originally posted by Instagram handle samyuspeaks athttps://www.instagram.com/reel/DehGtNHxnqw/

Did Seantor @ElissaSlotkin say people should be prosecuted just for working for the Trump administration? As with the Talarico in a mental hospital story, something going viral on right-wing twitter is based on lies. This happens again and again. She's talking about prosecuting people for the unprecedented corruption that this administration has engaged in. Of course that's what she was talking about. This administration is so corrupt and so lawless that there aren't enough prosecutorial resources in the world to pursue every case. They'll get away with almost everything. Slotkin is talking about bringing justice to at least a few of the criminals. Here's what Slotkin said shortly before the selectively edited clip. "Number two, we do have to have accountability for the unbelievable corruption that we are living under right now. But you can’t just make that your whole personality, right? So you have to pick signature cases and you have to go after people and projects that are just super egregious. So everyone knows the East Wing of the White House, right? And people feel that in a way that’s different from a nameless contract at the Pentagon or whatever. So, you need to pick those signature cases and go hard on accountability, not just Trump, right? Because of course there will be moments of like, let’s go after Trump himself as someone who voted to impeach him twice. Like, he’s still there, right? But the people around Donald Trump who are doing his bidding and enabling this have no such immunity. They have no immunity the way the president does. And to me, he couldn’t do any of this stuff without all those people saluting and and supporting it. So you go after the people who do did his bidding." It's amazing to me these people still have a victim complex. Trump barely pretends to care about the law. He fires prosecutors until they bring him the cases he wants. Trump supporters simply refuse to accept the truth about what this administration is. So of course, they need to constantly lie.

Trump trying to divide Russia and China, like Nixon did, but only this time the target of wooing being Russia (the now junior power) is (this time) good for Indian interests. But Trump has shown zero tenacity or consistency in these efforts and there is no guarantee it will work.
Trump doubles down on his move toward Russia and away from Europe:

Shifted out of Mumbai last week. Gradually realised the city will be in a perpetual state of construction since that's how contractors and in turn ministers will make money. So there'll always be that next project, next renovation to make your life tough. And if nothing else, they'll break an existing one completed just few years ago to make something bigger. Living in Mumbai constantly felt like life in hard mode. And with a baby in picture, wanted to have a little bit of greenery and space around. And eventually schools with space. Used to love the city when I came 9 years back from Delhi. But something shifted some years back, specially post lockdown. Incidentally I think Mumbai was good to live as long as 'Dilli se aaya hai kya?' used to be an insult. Now let's see..

"What do I owe society?", asked the guy in the green.
“I’m old. I’ve paid my home off,” said Ray Warner, a 72-year-old Akron resident. “Why would I pay property tax?” Across the country, homeowners are asking the same question and revolting against property taxes at a scale not seen in a half century. politico.com/news/magazine/2…

Richa Chadha is asking the question the middle class doesn’t want to confront. You took a 25-year EMI for a “dream home.” Meanwhile, the policies that drove up property prices — glass towers, tree-felling, endless construction — are making those same homes harder to live in: toxic air, record heat, rising energy costs, and climate risks that insurers and banks will eventually price in. Who are these mega complexes being built for when ordinary people can’t breathe? There is no development on a dead planet, and no economy without ecology. Your EMI is fixed. The climate bill is not. Climate change is not going to spare even those who are cutting the Aravalli Range either. Huge regards for her for speaking about an issue which no one wants to address in Bollywood or otherwise. How long are we going to ignore an issue that is going to bring doomsday closer than you can imagine. Thank you Richa for addressing this even if no one is doing so yet.🫡🙏 @RichaChadha #ClimateCrisisIndia #DelhiPollution #RichaChadha
