I bought and sold $SALM in 2013 for a +200% profit at $8+/share. Today, it was acquired for $1.00/share. I’d love to tell you a compelling story about how I navigated it like a genius, but it was mostly luck. In 9 out of 10 alternative universes, I’d still be holding that bag.
I might be a minority, but it's actually the point I don't agree with. How many concentrated investors are there that bet big and blow-up, never to be heard from again? If you have a true edge, give it time to compound.
The other point is - and it’s one I really agree with - that despite the facetious framing it’s really an affirmation of massive concentration. Forget the 10 baggers, you need to make massively concentrated bets to build wealth, if you are starting small. Diversification does nothing for you if you don’t have your chip stack at the beginning.
That is - max conviction; high concentration; oh and you have to be right.
Upside/downside skew is the real big differentiator in my personal worldview vs Wasteland (I’m guessing) but that’s a separate discussion

Wrote a little piece about $AIRI. Unfortunately the stock traded up a bit the past few days but I still think it's a special situation worth watching.

One of the all time greats, and a positive force for Hong Kong investors. He will be missed.
I just discovered that the HP Deskjet 930C that I once got for free secondhand, and still use to this day, was originally introduced in 1999. #deepvalue

I see a lot of talk in my feed on 50 year mortgages in the US. In the mean time in the Netherlands almost 50% of outstanding mortgages are interest only!
I have a 10+ hour layover in Newark on Sunday. If any of my NY followers want to meet-up for breakfast/brunch send me a PM.

🚨 TO ALL ZYTRONIC PLC $ZYT.L SHAREHOLDERS:
A General Meeting is happening on 1 October.
Henry Spain has called to remove directors and stop the company from liquidating.
Instead of returning cash to shareholders as planned, they want to take control of the board and turn Zytronic into their own investment vehicle.
The board recommends voting AGAINST these changes.
- If we don’t vote, this can go through, even if most holders don’t agree.
Please DM me to be added to our shareholder group chat for more information.
We’re keeping each other updated.
🗓️ GM date: 1 October
📬 Proxy voting deadline: 29 September
Please do not wait.
Every share counts.
Pat on the back for myself! $EPIX. Wonder what kind of lawsuits the company now can expect from (retail?) traders that had no business being in the stock yesterday... I assume the CVR is worthless now, but perhaps this could even be a MAE?!?
Replying to @Lord_of_Biotech @thewritser
Perhaps, but betting against the official Nasdaq ex-date seems a bit foolish to me. Giving that a 1% probability of working seems generous already.
