Okay. Most of my followers/followees I don't really know. I follow people because they post memes that make me piss myself, or they defend my politics with the kind of impassioned brilliance I couldn't possibly match. But I'm compelled to share something of a personal nature. 1/

Seriously, shut up. The amount of taxes we have to pay is ridiculous. Let me lay it out for ya, son. I work hard all week and earn a salary, which comes in a biweekly paycheck. But before I see a cent of it, the federal government takes its share. Depending on your income bracket, they take 10–37% of that right off the top. Then, it gets taxed again at 15.3% for FICA: 12.4% gets stolen for Social Security and 2.9% goes to Medicare. Then depending on which state you live in, you might be required to pay state income tax. States like Florida and Tennessee have none, some have a flat rate (e.g., Idaho and Georgia), and others have progressive rates based on income brackets. In California, high income earners take a 13.3% hit. Then after the federal and state governments have gotten their greedy hands on my paycheck, suppose I decide to be responsible and save a portion of what's left in a savings account and earn a little interest on it. Guess what? The IRS wants a cut of that, too. So, the money I earned that was already taxed is now subject to the same income taxes. Let's now suppose I decide to invest some of that in the stock market. I buy shares in a company (e.g., Tesla), take on the risk of losing my investment, and hopefully make a profit. Well, if I sell those shares for a gain, Uncle Sam comes knocking on my door again. Depending on how long I held the investment and my taxable income, I may owe 0%, 15%, or 20% in federal long-term capital gains taxes, potentially another 3.8% in net investment income tax, plus applicable state taxes. And short-term gains can be taxed at the ordinary income tax rates of 10–37%. And if I decide to spend my money? You guessed it. More taxes, baby! 45 states and many localities impose sales taxes, meaning I get taxed again when I buy groceries, clothes, household appliances, consumer electronics, and practically anything else. In some places, the combined state and local sales taxes exceed 10%. Louisiana's sales tax alone is 10.11%! Wanna buy a house with the money you have spent years saving? Congratulations, bucko! Now you're responsible for paying property taxes, which you will be obligated to pay every single year. And if you fail to pay it for long enough, you will eventually lose the property through a tax sale or foreclosure. So much for actually owning something, right? Wanna buy a vehicle? Depending on your state, you may owe sales tax and annual registration fees. And in some states (my home state of Virginia comes to mind), you are required to pay property taxes on that, too. Then, every time you fill up your tank at the pump, you have to pay gas taxes. The federal government collects $0.18 / gallon, and state and local governments pile their own taxes on top of that. Now, suppose I decide not to spend or invest any of my remaining money at all. I just keep it in cash. Well, inflation gradually erodes its purchasing power away year after year. It's not an enforced tax, but a hidden one that the federal government has done nothing to stop because we're no longer on the Gold Standard and we run massive deficits each year that is financed by monetary expansion (i.e., “printing”) to pay for socialist welfare and wealth transfer programs as well as endless wars in the Middle East. The bottom line is that I get taxed when I work hard and earn money. I get taxed again on the interest when I save that money. I get taxed a third time on the profits when I invest it. I get taxed when I spend it. I get taxed for “owning” property. And I get taxed when I drive. And yes, I'm much aware that we need at least some taxation to pay for things like national defense, public roads, and basic services to have a functioning society. Nobody really disagrees with that. But it does not mean every tax is justified or that the government should have an unlimited claim on the fruits of our labor. And if you look at the state of our roads in many states (Pennsylvania and New York's roads suck ass, Alabama's are nice, however) and public schools, it's abundantly clear that our tax dollars aren't being used wisely. Our founding fathers waged a revolution against Great Britain over far less atrocities than this.

Seizing the house is simpler to enforce. And good lord, will you people grow up? A healthy society has public goods. That requires taxation, you goddam baby.

When people tell you who they are, believe them. France has fallen. Britain is falling. We're next.
What is happening in Toronto?

This exactly. This picture should become iconic. It should go down in the history books. It should be re-posted a million times. It should be made into billboards. Because when it takes children to model appropriate social and moral behaviour to adults, then we know that something profoundly wrong has happened in society. To quote WB Yeats: "Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold; Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world" @GovBobFerguson @washdems Look upon your work. And weep.
Governor Bob Ferguson and @washdems, this is on you. COWARDS. Absolute COWARDS. We will never forget how you abandoned women and girls at the altar of your radical ideologies. And we will NEVER forgive.

I’m not anti-American. I don’t believe tampons belong in men’s bathrooms. I don’t feel the need to announce my pronouns. I believe in equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. I believe in freedom of speech, even when I disagree with what someone says. I believe in secure borders, legal immigration and respecting the country you choose to call home. I believe in merit, not identity politics. I believe patriotism is something to be proud of, not ashamed of. I believe in critical thinking. I question what I hear in the news instead of blindly accepting it as fact. I believe children should be allowed to be children. I believe in personal responsibility, hard work and earning your way in life. I believe we should be able to disagree without being labelled hateful. Call me far right, intolerant, offensive or whatever other label you want. I remember when most of these things weren’t even controversial. They were just normal. And I refuse to apologize for believing them.

3 years ago, sitting in my living room in Ajax on a Saturday morning (cat on lap, Premier League match on), I flipped channels once I realized what was happening. It felt surreal. It always will. But it all happened as we ALL remember it. Hamas terrorists crossed the border and deliberately hunted civilians, murdering families, slaughtering hundreds dancing at the Nova festival, and dragging hostages back into Gaza while crowds cheered. They didn't hide their brutality, their atrocities, or methods. They recorded as much of it as they could, and published as much of it as they could. A mountain of evidence showing mass murder, sexual violence, and torture. Yet, before Israel even buried its dead, people thousands of miles away began rationalizing the massacre as "resistance". Incredibly, public sector union leaders, academics, & some politicians didn't even wait a weekend before explaining why this might even be defended, or in extreme cases, deserved. Since then, antisemitism has surged back into North American society with terrifying speed. Leaders have been few & far between in Toronto, & many other cities & communities. A segment of our population (maybe very small, but certainly very vocal) has decided to hold Jewish people to account for a foreign government. We would never do it, in the 21st Century, to any other race or religion. It'd be utterly wrong, unfair, & incendiary. I urge all to do what we can to turn the tide. Speak up. Call out bullshit. I want my kids living in a society where citizens don't have to look over their shoulder, hide their religious symbols, and be subject to aggressive & illegal protests outside their common spaces. The post-October 7 era in Canada has exposed a dangerous tolerance for targeted intimidation, leaving a deep scar on the country’s commitment to genuine inclusivity and safety for all. That commitment shouldn't come with purity tests or conditions. I remember the October 7 victims today. I also will continue to speak up against intimidation, threats, & actual violence. The line between political criticism or judgement of a war....and direct harassment of our Jewish brothers & sisters has become blurry. We must push back & say what's obvious.

American an European friends, I’m so ashamed, but you need to see what France has become. Don’t make the same mistakes we did. The only peaceful solution is to send them back to their countries of origin they love so much. We cannot coexist. It will be them, or us.

An attempted terrorist attack on the citizens of a democratic ally was luckily thwarted, and Canada’s Foreign Minister cannot even bring herself to say ‘terrorist attack’. She calls it an ‘incident’ instead. Gutless and devoid of all humanity. Shame on you, Ms. Anand. Shame.
The safety of air passengers is a fundamental principle of international aviation and ICAO. I am deeply concerned by today’s incident aboard a Flydubai flight bound for Israel and relieved that all passengers are safe. I commend the swift action and courage of those on board that helped bring the aircraft to safety. My thoughts are with those who were injured, and I wish them a full and speedy recovery.

I have a dream. I dream of a day when men in the West will find their spines and testicles, and rise up against parasitized suicidal empathy. I dream of a day when the populace will rise up against parasitic taxation whereby a large chunk of an individual's hard-earned money is stolen. I dream of a day when universities recommit to intellectual enrichment void of ideological activism. I dream of a day when people recognize that all religions are not equally congruent with our liberties and freedoms. I dream of a day when our grandchildren will live in freer societies than those of our grandparents. I dream of a day when people who fail to recognize the two phenotypes (male and female) are laughed out of public discourse. I dream of a day when every single person who adheres to a religious ideology that wishes to exterminate us is removed from our midst. Freedom and truth are the ideals from which all else that is good flows. I have a dream.
